  • N95 8GB gets hooked up with firmware v30, too -- just two more N95s to go

Filed under: Handsets , Software , Nokia , Symbian That delightful little gift to original N95 owners in the form of firmware v30 has now spread to the European-spec N95 8GB, too, offering better battery life (allegedly), a new Flash Lite client, upgraded media player, "enablers" for Comes With Music (sounds promising), and a host of other tweaks that make the N95 better than ever. In fact, it might have some N95-1 and N95-2 owners saying " N96 who?" -- but North American N95-3 and N95-4 owners, as usual, might let their eyes wander toward the newer piece anyway since there's no indication when they'll be seeing the upgrade. • 8GB Nokia N95 lands on Rogers, sticks tongue out at AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , Nokia , Rogers Wireless , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Get this: the first North American carrier to offer up Nokia's 8GB N95 isn't AT&T. Heck, it's not even a US-based operator. No friends, it's Canada's own Rogers Wireless. Just as we had heard late last month, the N95 8GB has officially landed in the Great North, and starting on May 6th, consumers up that way will be able to secure one for a hefty $399.99 with a three-year activation on the Rogers Vision Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan. Don't weep too heavily, AT&T users -- your time should be coming soon . Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Nokia N95 8GB NAM pictures

The highly-anticipated Nokia N95 8GB NAM is live! Nokia launched it last night and we managed to snap a couple pics of the sleek, large-screened beauty as we threw back complimentary drinks and scarfed down some delish eats. Before anyone starts complaining about the craptastic photo quality, please bear with us. High-resolution pics are on the way, hang in there. Just like its Euro-counterpart , the Nokia N95 8GB NAM rocks that larger screen, 8GB of onboard memory (of course), larger battery, more RAM, 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss shooter, and that conspicuously absent lens-cover. Here’s a little taste of the Nokia N95 8GB NAM in all its black-clad glory. Keep reading to see the rest of the pics. ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:Nokia leak hints at Nokia N95 8GB North American Version, N82 8GBNokia N95 advertisement shows slightly tweaked designBrief: Nokia N95 8GB North American Edition: 100% ConfirmedNokia working on 8GB version of N95!Nokia N95 8GB Black glamor shots from London's Nokia GoPlay Launch Event
  • Nokia N95 advertisement shows slightly tweaked design

The boys over at Engadget Mobile spotted this interesting advert on Yahoo! today. Like so many yuppy mid-lifers that have gone under the knife in search of vanity and youth, the Nokia N95 you see pictured here just looks a bit strange. It’s an N95, that much we’re sure of. But, take a look at the edges of the device - they look strangely beveled for some reason. Clicking on the ad takes you to Nokia’s USA Nokia N95 page, so we’re assuming the “8GB expandable memory” claim is referring to the microSD card slot. The Nokia N95 8GB NAM should be an all-black handset without a microSD card slot, so this ad is most likely referring to the already-launched Nokia N95-3. Sloppy advertising aside, what’s with the tweaked look of this Nokia N95-3? • Nokia leak hints at Nokia N95 8GB North American Version, N82 8GB

What’s this? Another N95 release? That’s right. In the tradition of Motorola’s re-released-to-death RAZR lineup, Nokia has let it slip that the Noka N95 8GB will be tweaked and re-released to play nice on those funky US 3G frequencies that make America so great. It makes sense for Nokia to release a US-spec Nokia N95 8GB for some time now, and it seems that the launch may not be far off. Nokia actually leaked the information themselves, following the leaked hardware pics of the Nokia N96 the other day. Astute Nokia fans noticed that the “Downloads!” page in Nokia’s US Nseries Portal featured support for the Nokia N95 8GB NAM as well as the rumored Nokia N82 8GB. Was it just a case of too much rum-laced EggNog at the Nokia Holiday Office party, or is Nokia going to make it their policy to leak future handset info themselves? We’d prefer the latter - after all, there’s no better kind of leak than those that come straight from the manufacturer. The Nokia N82 8GB listing was taken down with haste, but Nokia decided to leave the N95 8GB NAM up for all to see. We’d say that the launch of the Nokia N95 8GB US is highly likely, with the Nokia N82 8GB possibly not far behind. CES 2008 will probably net us some juicy details, and possibly a few juicier pics. Stay tuned! That’s it, it’s official. No more speculation and rumor about the 8GB Nokia N95 Black - it’s for real, in the flesh and ready to pull duty as Nokia’s flagship. We remember way back when the 8GB N95 was just a glimmer in an enthusiast’s eye , it’s come a long way. As we all expected , the new N95 sports a badass black finish. If looks could kill, the Black N95 8GB would be a Dessert Eagle .44 - it’s not the smallest or slickest design out there, but damn if it doesn’t pack a wallop. The Nokia N95 8GB Black only differs from the vanilla-flavored N95 in the exterior finish and the bump in internal flash memory capacity. But, when we’re dealing with a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, WiFi, GPS, microSD card slot, TV-out, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and 2.8 inch display, there’s not much that could be improved (except maybe the laggy response and short battery life?). So, in exchange for bragging rights and big-boy-on-the-block status, you’ll have to shill out €560 ($761) for this here N95 8GB Black - expect it in Europe soon with a US delivery in October. Hey, you gotta pay to play, and with this little baby, it’s totally worth it. Read on for more glamor shots to make your silver Nokia N95 turn green with jealous envy. • Nokia N95 8GB now on sale!

We don’t know what to make of this, but Maximus over at Just Another Mobile Phone Blog has spotted the rumored 8GB Nokia N95 for sale. Well, actually, with an availability date listed as December 1, 2007, this is more of a pre-sale - for just a cent south of a Grand ($1,000). We’re confused as to what this all means. Does Popular Electronics have some insider information on an impending release of the near-mystical 8GB edition Nokia N95 ? Are they just trying to cash in on rumor and speculation? Again, we just don’t know. We’ve never heard of the vendor either, which casts further doubt on the whole situation. Anyone out there ever heard of, or ordered from, Popular Electronics ? • Nokia's 8GB N95 confirmed for Q4 release?

Filed under: Handsets , Nokia Not a whole lot of new information here, but we're starting hear that the 8GB N95 that was mentioned just days ago as a potential device will in fact become a reality. Unfortunately, we're still forced to treat this "confirmation" as a rumor until Nokia fesses up to the pictured device, but if whispers prove true, it should hit outlets "shortly after Christmas," will be black in color, tout 8GB of internal capacity, and sport a slightly larger screen for good measure. Hold tight -- we're sure a confirmation (or vehement denial) will be just around the bend. [Image courtesy of Slashphone ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Nokia working on 8GB version of N95!

We found an xml file on Nokia’s website that gives us reason to believe that Nokia is working on an 8GB version of their N95. Billed as an Apple iPhone competitor, an 8GB Nokia N95 could go head to head with the highly attractive 8GB iPhone. So, just take your 8GB N95 and attach it to a portable screen, and voila, you have an iPhone “killer.” This 8GB version could be the music-edition of the N95, which would fit in perfectly with past branding conventions from Nokia. We think the music-edition could sport an all-black facade to differentiate it from the regular, run-of-the-mill N95. Because, you know, the normal N95 will be soo last month, once the 8GB N95 drops. • Nokia planning 8GB N95?

Filed under: Handsets , Nokia Per usual, we're taking this one with a throw of salt for the time being, but an interesting couple of lines from an .xml file on Nokia's site actually makes mention of an 8GB N95. Stepping back, it does indeed follow logic that Nokia would think of unveiling an 8GB handset in order to more directly compete with its newfound rivals , but until we see something more detailed than a few lines of stray code, we'll reserve judgment. So, regretting that oh-so-fresh N95 purchase yet? [Via JustAMP ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
