  • Upcoming AT&T phones get priced

Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , Nokia , Pantech , Samsung , Sony Ericsson , ATT , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS It's always a good sign when rumored handsets get slapped with price tags, because that means that releases are right around the corner, too -- usually, anyhow. To that end, AT&T's latest stock information indicates that the S60-powered Nokia 6650 will run $129.99 in your choice of red or silver, as will the Sony Ericsson W760a ; the Samsung a637 will be coming in for $49.99, so we're expecting some pretty low-end stuff there; the Pantech C740 "Matrix" is priced at $79.99, and finally, the Motorola V9x we found out about way back in early July is checking in at a princely $199.99. All prices are after rebate, too, so we wouldn't expect any miraculous deals on these -- at least for the first few weeks. [Thanks, Kal] Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • The Motorola RAZR 2 V9x for AT&T brings GPS, non-hideous color

Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Shoot, all Motorola had to do was change from pink mahogany to this nice, normal, compliant shade of black, and that would've been enough of an update to justify a model name change. There's more, though: the V9x will officially offer AT&T Navigator, the Telenav -powered navigation system already found on the Z9 , and we can see from these press shots that it'll even work on the secondary display, which is pretty trick. This appears to be the same update that we'd originally heard would drop way back in January , which means we can likely expect Video Share support as well. Check 'er out! • AT&T release dates through May (hint: no Vu)

Filed under: Handsets , Features , LG , Motorola , Samsung , Sony Ericsson , UTStarcom , ATT , Palm OS , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We've just received a fresh round of release dates on AT&T, and if we had to pick a single word to describe the theme here, it'd be "colors." Shades upon shades of phones -- both new and old -- will see a release on AT&T in the next couple of months, starting with the Sony Ericsson Z750a , the first 3G Sony Ericsson to be released by a carrier in the States (but not in North America -- that honor belongs to Rogers ); it'll hit in your choice of gray, pink, or purple in early April. Like the a737 , the a437 gets done up in a whole spectrum -- gray, gold, and red, to be specific -- come mid April, alongside the workhorse Motorola V3xx in lavender, pink, gray, platinum, and red (noticing a trend with this whole gray thing?). It looks like the V3xx releases will be spaced out over a few weeks, for whatever reason, tapering off by the end of May. The now-ancient UTStarcom 5700 finally sees release toward the end of April more than a year after we first saw it in the FCC's business, giving a lower-end choice to the Windows Mobile faithful. Finally, May should bring about the LG CU720 Shine in black, following its initial offerings of silver and red. Oh, and it looks like the Motorola Z9 and the black Centro should be widely available pretty much any minute now -- stay tuned. Strangely missing from the list is the Vu , though that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be released by the end of May, it merely means that AT&T's not sure yet. Surprise, surprise. • A look at AT&T's pipeline, early March 2008 edition

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Motorola , Nokia , Pantech , Sony Ericsson , ATT , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We've already mentioned that the LG Vu is looking solid for a late March release after being held up (or so they say, anyway) to work through a few MediaFLO issues; we've now received independent confirmation that it's true -- assuming no more issues arise, of course -- but that's not all. No, far from it, in fact. The Sony Ericsson Z750 is apparently inbound for a release within two weeks, and along with the rugged Motorola W760 "Hurricane" (pictured), that should close out AT&T's March docket. Moving on to April and beyond, the Pantech "Breeze" is expected some time next month, but don't get too excited -- it's an entry level flip that should move out the door free on contract. The Motorola Z9 slider should lackadaisically stroll into stores in late April, and finally, we've heard that the Nokia N95 has been approved by the carrier's powers that be (!!!) and should be available in the second quarter; no word on whether it's the standard N95 or the N95 8GB , though. How about an N96 with MediaFLO while you're at it, guys? [Thanks, Kal] Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • AT&T's releases through early April: yes to Centro, no to Vu?

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Motorola , Palm , Sony Ericsson , UTStarcom , ATT , Palm OS , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We've just been slipped some bittersweet information that we deliver with a heavy heart: AT&T's latest pricing information, which runs through April 7, apparently makes no mention of the hotly anticipated LG Vu . There's no mention of the Samsung Access , either, leading us to believe that the carrier's mobile TV launch may have been pushed out one more time for good measure. Of course, we suppose it's possible that there's no delay and they just haven't slipped pricing details to stores yet, but we're jaded enough at this point to say that another slip is entirely within the realm of reason. Now, onto some happier tidbits: the black version of the Shine should launch, along with the Sony Ericsson Z750 in pink, gray, and purple, the long-overdue 5700 low end smartphone, the white Centro sporting push-to-talk support, and the Motorola Z9 slider -- which AT&T curiously identifies as "ruggedized." We don't remember anything remotely rugged about the one we saw, but whatevs. [Thanks, Kal] Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Meet the W760r, Motorola's V365 replacement for AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , ATT , GSM , EDGE , UMTS Remember that V365 replacement for AT&T we chatted up back in the day? Well, AT&T's still not ready to talk about it, we guess, but the FCC sure is. The so-called W760r appears to live up to the V365's faux rugged tradition, but adds a couple key goodies: WCDMA of some sort (HSDPA, we'd hope) and a 2 megapixel cam, up from the W365's milquetoast VGA sensor. What hasn't changed is the presence of a prominent aerial antenna, a feature all but the most diehard signal addicts could probably do without. No word on a release, but considering the famous example of the still-unreleased SMT5700 that hit the FCC, like, eons ago , there's really no telling when we'll see it. • AT&T now offering Motorola RAZR 2 V9

Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS What a refreshing change of pace! AT&T actually beat its estimate of "early September" for its variant of the Motorola RAZR 2 , the V9 -- albeit in a rather bizarre shade, "mahogany" (where we come from, that's called purple, but whatevs). Though it's not showing up on AT&T's online store just yet, it's showing up for their business "premier" customers (note the screen shot above) and seems to be filtering into brick-and-mortar locations as we write this. The premier site shows a rather shocking off-contract price of $749.99, though with a combination of discounts, rebates, and contracts, it should fall into a far more reasonable price range for pretty much everyone involved. Seriously, $750? Sheesh. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
