The touchscreen-based flip phone is launching today on Verizon Wireless, bringing with it two layers of touch -- one on the interactive clear flip outside and another with the full 2.8-inch touchscreen inside. You'll also find support for V CAST Mobile TV, V CAST Video, V CAST Music with Rhapsody and VZ Navigator, not to mention the 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, HTML browser and visual voicemail capabilities. It's in stores today for a buck fifty after signing away your cellular soul for two years and waiting ages for a $50 mail-in rebate to arrive in your mailbox.   • Verizon launches Motorola Adventure V750 with Rev. A push-to-talk support

The phone becomes the very first on Verizon's network to support Rev. A-based push-to-talk, a quantum leap in robustness and functionality over the older 1xRTT fare; the G'zOne Boulder is expected in the next few weeks, bringing Big Red a pair of durable units that should appeal to the typical PTT crowd. Buyers of the V750 can expect a 2 megapixel camera, external music controls, microSD expansion, GPS, and of course EV-DO Rev. A data, so it's a pretty well-spec'd setup considering its lot in life.   • Verizon surprises no one with XV6900, Motorola Q9c, and LG enV(2)

    Filed under: Handsets , HTC , LG , Motorola , Verizon Wireless , Windows Mobile , EV-DO , CDMA Well, here are three that we didn't see coming or anything -- Verizon has officially announced the Motorola Q9c, LG enV(2), and HTC-sourced XV6900 today, all for April availability. The Moto Q9c is a more business-savvy version of the consumer-focused Q9m that was launched on Verizon late last year, with the carrier playing up the new model's VZ Navigator support, Windows Mobile 6 Standard load (yippee?), and -- unfortunately for those whose companies distrust photography -- a 1.3 megapixel camera. This one will launch for $249.99 after rebate on a two-year plan. Next up we have the enV(2) -- a phone we mistakenly identified previously as the enV2 because we just never could've seen those bonus parenthesis coming -- which succeeds the wildly popular enV and injects a fresh dose of industrial design. Features include a 2 megapixel cam, 2.4 inch internal display accompanied by a smaller screen up front that's just big enough for doing calling duty, microSD slot, and the flip-up QWERTY keyboard the enV series is famous for. It'll run $129.99 after rebate on contract when it launches next month. Finally, the XV6900 brings Verizon in line with Sprint's Touch , though in a far paler shade. It features the full host of Windows Mobile 6 Professional goodies alongside a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, Bluetooth, and HTC's TouchFLO interface. Like the others, it's slated for April availability and will run $349.99 on contract after $50 rebate.   • Motorola W755 and a pair of Nokias come to light for Verizon

    Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , Nokia , Verizon Wireless , EV-DO , CDMA It's no secret that Nokia's looking to make a bigger splash in the US market than it has the past few years -- and we also know that a CDMA and EV-DO-equipped Nokia passed the FCC not long ago -- so it comes as only a mild surprise to see a pair of 'em in the wild flush with Verizon branding. The 2605 and 7205 (pictured) are two flips that seem to turn up the style dial just a tad from typical Nokia fare, and frankly, that's just fine by us. The low-end 2605 lacks EV-DO and features only a VGA cam, while the 7205 kicks it up a notch with EV-DO, a 2 megapixel camera, and an ultra-slim (dare we say V9m-like) body. Verizon faithful might be disheartened to learn that both phones are thoroughly done over with Verizon's typical theme, so we're really not sure how much Nokia DNA is going to be left by the time these things get to market. Also found in the wild is the Verizon-branded Motorola W755, a KRZR-esque piece with a 1.3 megapixel cam and touch-sensitive external controls. No word yet on when we might see this trio on shelves.   • Verizon announces Motorola Z6tv for October 5 launch

Supporting Verizon's MediaFLO-based mobile TV service, the Z6tv takes on a simple slider form factor like its u620 stablemate and features a 2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, support fo VZ Navigator, roughly 50MB of onboard storage (mere scraps, if you ask us) plus microSD expansion, and support for landscape viewing of television, video clips, and the camera viewfinder.   • Alltel releases Motorola RAZR 2 V9m

As you might expect, Alltel's version has some carrier-specific customization -- Celltop , XM Radio, and TeleNav GPS are all on board, features well suited for the V9m's EV-DO radio -- and it seems to be sporting the most conservative color scheme we've seen to date for a RAZR 2 launched in the States (could be good or bad depending on your taste and your line of work, we suppose). Otherwise, the V9m comes with stereo Bluetooth support, microSD expansion, and that huge external display that we've fallen in love with. Grab it today for $299.99 on contract after rebate.   • Motorola day: Verizon gets Q9m, Sprint gets V9m

    Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , Sprint-Nextel , Verizon Wireless , 1xRTT , EV-DO , CDMA As expected , Verizon and Sprint have given Motorola a venue for its latest and greatest hardware today, releasing the Q9m Windows Mobile smartphone and RAZR 2 V9m flip respectively. Though the media centric Q9m's $350 price on a two-year contract ain't exactly pocket change, it's interesting to note that it whittles right down to a more manageable $250 after rebate -- a mere $20 more than you'll pay for an old school Q Black . Meanwhile, minions from the other side of the CDMA camp (yes, we mean Sprint) have prepped the V9m for launch today at the same $250 price point after rebate, making it the first of several US carriers committed to a RAZR 2 launch to actually get it out of the door. If everything goes the way we expect it to, both of these devices will land on the other carrier in the next few weeks, so the "grass is greener on the other side" effect should be kept to a bare minimum here.   • Sprint, Verizon both announce Motorola RAZR 2 V9m

    Filed under: Handsets , Motorola , Sprint-Nextel , Verizon Wireless , 1xRTT , EV-DO , CDMA Neither carrier has launched it just yet, but yes -- the RAZR 2 V9m has now officially found a home on both Sprint and Verizon , with both promising availability in the next few weeks. To split hairs, Sprint will be beating its sworn enemy by a few days, launching its variant on August 22, while Verizon's just promising "September" at this point. Unless AT&T manages to pull a rabbit out of its hat , it looks like the two will be the first in the US to launch what Motorola hopes will be the centerpiece of a turnaround for its flagging handset business. Thanks to EV-DO, attractive styling (yes, we realize we'll be really tired of it in a couple years, but it's still hot for now), and a gargantuan external display with touch controls, the phone is being positioned on the higher end of both carriers' dumbphone offerings -- and the price reflects it. Look for it for $300 with a $50 rebate on Verizon, $250 on Sprint, both on a two-year agreement.   • Motorola W385, new LG Chocolates live on Verizon

    Filed under: Handsets , LG , Motorola , Verizon Wireless , 1xRTT , EV-DO , CDMA Thinking back to when we first caught wind of it , the turnaround on the ambiguously named VX8550 Chocolate from LG wasn't that bad -- but the same can't be said of Verizon's other retail introduction today, the midrange Motorola W385. This thing's been kicking around as a rumored Big Red device since April at the latest -- and yes, we'll admit that our sense of time is a bit skewed, but that's, like, forever . Anyhoo, pick up the VGA-cam'd, 160 x 128 screen'd W385 for $70 after all the contracts and discounts have been applied; meanwhile, the VX8500 successor can be yours for a nice, round hundie.
