  • Spice Mobile launches Spice X-1 gaming phone in India

No wonder Sony Ericsson is interested in acquiring India’s Spice Mobiles. Their recently launched gaming phone, Spice X-1, looks like something the Swedish-Japanese handset maker may release in the not-that-distant future as part of its “F” series of mobile gaming friendly handsets. Back to Spice X-1. It’s clearly a mobile phone designed to appeal to the [...]

Just when they unveiled that Gameloft will make its games optimized for the JS1 controller, Zeemote announced a new “partner in crime” - Sony Ericsson. • Interview: Dolby explain about "Dolby Mobile"

This week, I was lucky enough to spend some time in the company of Max Taylor (International Marketing Director, Mobile), and Mark Price (Public Relations Manager, EMEA), from Dolby Mobile. Many of you may remember that we covered Dolby's move in to Mobile as part of Will's CTIA coverage - out of that has spun [...]
  • Fly Mobile MC100 gaming phone wants you to download pirated gaming ROMs

Fly Mobile's MC100 isn't just your average monoblock handset. Sure, it's got all the run-of-the-mill features that you'd expect from a mobile phone of this caliber - 240×320 display, 2 megapixel camera, media playback, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 1.2 A2DP, and even GPRS class 8. But, your average mobile phone doesn't actually encourage you to [...]
  • Fly Mobile can play Nintendo games!!

Fly Mobile's new MC100 handset - a device supporting not only Java games, but also the NES/SNES/Gameboy Nintendo consoles games! Disappointingly it doesn't do the 3D shizzle that we came to love on the various latter consoles (N64 and Wiiiiiiiii obviously not supported), but, there are a TON of good Nintendo classics rendered in just the [...]

  • Top 10 phones for 3D performance

Pocketgamer has been busy, working out which handsets on the market have the best 3D performance - of course, this is a somewhat subjective measure, because as anyone familiar with benchmarking knows, if you give a processor a task it excels at compared with others, it is bound to win! Anyhoo, the test in question [...]
  • utec T680 - Asia's gaming phone

Apparently utec is a very popular brand in Asia, and one of their latest mobile phones, T680, aims to appeal to those people — probably youngsters — who like to take their games with them, wherever they are. Hence, the T680 is a gaming phone which comes with a full sized controller that can be attached to the phone for easy gaming. Yeah, we’ve seen Sony Ericsson releasing similar controllers in the past, but this is the first time some company is actually bundling the phone with the controller. As for the specs, the candybar-shaped utec T680 features a 2.2″ QVGA touchscreen, 2MP camera, microSD slot and very-useful-for-gaming TV out. Available in two colors, this device supports Java, GameBoy and GameBoy Color games… Neat idea. I guess Nokia could also make some kind of gamepad for their new NGage platform… Few more photos after the break. • Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone coming by Christmas?

The Sony Ericsson gaming chief, Peter Ahnegard, said that the new gaming focused device wearing the PlayStation badge is coming by Christmas. However, he added that it may not be this Christmas, suggesting two things: 1) He said that by mistake - that suppose to be the big Santa’s surprise; 2) He’s actually not sure when the Swedish-Japanese company will be ready to roll out the PSP phone. Between the lines, we find this as a clear confirmation that the PSP phone (or PSP series of phones) is coming somewhere in the future. Following Walkman, Cyber-shot and Bravia - Sony will put yet another popular brand into its joint venture business with Ericsson. And why wouldn’t they do it — after all, Sony Ericsson proved to be nothing but success for both companies. Let’s keep our fingers crossed Peter meant THIS Christmas. Now that I’m thinking, with Nokia rolling out N-Gage platform, Sony Ericsson can’t just stand watching the party… [Via: Gizmodo ] ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:Sony Ericsson to make future PSPs?3 brings Sony Ericsson W950i to the UK for ChristmasSony Ericsson S900i conceptSony Ericsson T650 coming in black and silver?Skype May be Coming to Symbian UIQ3
  • Nokia gets official with the Nokia N81 N-Gage gaming phone

So, after yesterday’s time-traveling escapade to the Nokia N81 and N95 8GB launch today, we aren’t really surprised to see these pics. But, it’s nice to finally catch up with the future - we call that “temporal sync.” The Nokia N81 has hit the market as a revamped 3G N-Gage mobile gaming platform and packs a 2 megapixel camera, front-facing video calling camera, integrated speakers, and HSDPA to make online gaming a little smoother. Games can be downloaded for 10 Euros a piece, and will be integrated with the Nokia Ovi service that was just launched . And, the Nokia N81 has a really trick UI going on. The different window panes will be arranged in a rotating carousel, and will serve up different Ovi services as they become available. The best part? There’s an 8GB model that will be going on sale Q4 2007. But, as high-end phones with massive flash memory capacity tend to do, the 8GB N81 will lighten your back pocket by €431 ($585), while the 2GB microSD unit will command a €360 ($490) price tag. Keep reading for all the glamor shots. • Samsung patent application reveals two new gaming phone designs - it's all about the games

It looks like Samsung is really gunning for the gaming-handset market. Following up on their recent patent application for a joystick-mobile-phone , Samsung has applied for another round of patents with two new gaming-phone designs. Design No. 1 is described as a”portable communication terminal for games.”And features a straight-forward gaming design - screen in the middle, flanked by the game-pad and action buttons and either side. Where are the phone-keys, you ask? Well, flipping up the game-pad end of the phone reveals a set of numeric keys and a navigational d-pad. The phone speaker is near the action buttons, which don’t flip up to reveal any hidden keys. Design No. 2 , described as a “portable communication terminal with foldable keypad,” features a sliding screen that seems to slide back and flip up to reveal the numeric phone-keys hidden underneath. Unlike the previous patent, this particular design preserves the game-pad and action-button layout, opting for a Sidekick-like under-the-screen key placement. But, by the looks of the patent applications, these are some hefty gaming phones. As in, too hefty to be conveniently carried around. Unless Samsung has plans to put these phones on a diet, you can bet we won’t be weighing down our pockets with any of these bulky handsets. • World Poker Tour cellphones by Sony Ericsson

Here’s something for all you guys and gals who like to gamble and at the same live outside the U.S. — as online (and I guess mobile) gambling is prohibited in the States. PhoneHouse France has been selling limited edition Sony Ericsson K750i handsets branded by World Poker Tour logo - K750i WPT. The phone comes with the “Texas Hold ‘Em 2″ game preloaded and enables users to play against each other, but not for money — now when I’m thinking, this kind of phone IS probably legal in the States as well, as it doesn’t involve any exchange of money. Anyway, it seemed like an interesting bundle, yet it’s off the site now. [Via: textually.org ]
  • Apple and Nintendo working together on iPhone games?

All mobile phones come with some games preinstalled. What about iPhone? So far we haven't heard a thing about games being available on Apple's handset. That's about to change… Apparently, Apple is working with no one else but Nintendo to push some of the game developer's popular titles on its mobile Mac OS version. Nintendo has [...]
