  • Streamezzo intros Skinnable Application Suite

    Mobile media solutions and platforms provider Streamezzo announced the first four elements of its Skinnable Application Suite, which the firm says offers independent software developers, system integrators and mobile agencies an alternative environment for developing mobile services like websites, news portals and multimedia portals. The four skinnable applications--Music Player, VoD Player, RSS Reader and Photo Gallery--can be deployed across all mobile operating systems as well as branded and customized with full skins. In addition, two or more applications can be combined, and all apps promise efficient integration with existing mobile services. Streamezzo adds it will soon make available to developers a series of premium components to complement the Skinnable Application Suite.   • French Mobile Media Firm Streamezzo Receives Funding From Qualcomm Ventures

    Streamezzo, a developer of rich media solutions specialized in making content available across on DVB-H and DMB mobile broadcast networks, has closed the second tranche of its most recent funding round with the participation of Qualcomm Ventures. It’s Qualcomm’s first direct equity investment in Europe, but no figures were disclosed. Qualcomm joins Streamezzo’s existing investors who include: AXA Private Equity, T Source, France Telecom Technologies Investissements and GET Valorisation, as well as new investors Sofinnova Partners and Sofinnova Ventures. Streamezzo will use the investment to expand and accelerate the development of its product lines. The company’s mobile TV solution was chosen recently by French mobile operator SFR to power its 3G mobile TV and video services. (Release) Meanwhile, Cellular News reports Qualcomm has announced a commitment to invest 100 million euros (US$135) million in European companies working in wireless technologies. The company’s investment strategy will focus on European SMEs and startups that can serve the 3G (WCDMA) business case in Europe through innovation in the following sectors: mobile application/platform software developers, handset components, network infrastructure and core technologies providers.
