  • WidSets goes out of beta

So far we’ve mentioned Nokia’s Java ME-based mobile widget platform, WidSets , at least a dozen times. In case you haven’t figured all this time it was in the beta stage. That’s about to change, as Nokia has announced that it’s ready for the prime time. Initially WidSets users may not notice any difference — except maybe the overall improved usability — but soon enough Nokia will start pushing the ads through the WidSets platform. Yes, Nokia will use the service as an advertising medium and will pre-install the WidSets application in its future devices. In addition, the Finish giant wowed to translate the application to tens of different languages. We’ll see how this (mobile widget advertising) goes…W Full release follows after the jump. PRESS RELEASE - Nokia today announced that its innovative Internet service called WidSets, launched one year ago, has emerged from Beta to a new service platform. We’ve valued the early feedback, which has enabled us to launch a more compelling service for users and content providers.” The new platform offers a dynamic search feature and an improved widget creation tool for quicker, simpler and more personalized options for creating widgets. • New version of V CAST Music Manager released

Verizon Wireless released the new version of their desktop application Music Manager , which accompanies the carrier’s V CAST Music service. Beside improved interface that is now made of four tabs - “V CAST Buy Music”, “Music on My PC”, “Music on My Phone”, and “Music on My CD” - the new version also provides users with additional features such as an ability to import unprotected .aac files and automatically convert them to .wma files during sync (if required), import playlists from Windows Media Player, sort music by songs or albums, easily manage duplicate song files, and print “Show Me How” screens. But that’s not all - Verizon emphasizes the overall increase in usability, resulting in fewer number of steps required to rip, burn and sync music. Verizon Wireless’ new Music Manager works with Windows XP and Vista PCs and all V CAST Music-enabled phones (except the Verizon Wireless CDM 8945 which is only compatible with Windows XP). By the end of July, customers using the previous version of V CAST Music software will automatically receive an upgrade notification to the new, improved version; customers may select to manually update the software as well. I wonder what happened with the Mac support? Or Mac users use iTunes exclusively and don’t like carriers’ solutions? ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:Nokia PC Suite 6.82 releasedNokia PC Suite updatedVerizon Wireless launches Song ID serviceiDesk 1.45 releasedNokia Video Manager released
  • Official iPhone RSS reader?

Just when we were wondering how will users read the RSS feeds on their iPhones, it seems that Apple has made its own online RSS reader available. I say “it seems” as we don’t have an official word from Cupertino - rather the URL ( http://reader.mac.com/ ) suggests that the RSS reader is the real deal. Plus, it’s not visible on any other browser except the iPhone’s Safari — I’ve tried with Nokia’s Safari-based S60 browser and it doesn’t work as well. Now, let me speculate for a moment. Is this the product of cooperation between Apple and Google? I certainly hope it is. That would mean complete synchronization of mobile and desktop Google Reader experiences.
