  • Alltel offers more unlimited calling plans with 5, 20 person My Circle plans

Alltel’s popular My Circle unlimited calling plan is now available with a couple additional offerings. With the ability to select up to 10 phone numbers to which you can make unlimited calls, it’s no wonder that Alltel has decided to expand its “My Circle” plans. In light of the tremendous success of the 10-person “My Circle” plan, previously available on calling plans $59.99 and up, Alltel has decided to add a larger and smaller calling-circle offering. Now available is a 5-person unlimited calling-circle and a 20-person “My Circle” plan. Alltel customers with calling plans of $49.99 can now choose up to five different phone numbers that won’t count against their rate-plan minutes. Those with calling plans of $59.99 or $79.99 will still be allowed to specify up to 10 phone numbers for unlimited calling. And, big-spenders with calling plans of $99.99 and up will be allowed to choose a “My Circle” of 20 numbers to which they are allowed unlimited wireless calling minutes. If you’ve been thinking about switching to Alltel to cash in on their “My Circle” unlimited calling plan, now’s the time to make the jump. We don’t even have a circle of 20 friends to fill up that new “My Circle 20″ quota, so we’ll be sticking with the lower-priced rate plans. • Alltel launches Voice2TXT voicemail transcription service

Just in time to make their Q4 2007 deadline for rolling out their voice-to-text voicemail transcription service , Alltel has just launched their SpinVox-based service - Voice2TXT is finally here. Alltel subscribers can now pay $4.99 to have 20 conversations transcribed from voice into, well, text - with 100 conversation-transcriptions running $19.99. There’s no unlimited plan as of yet, but we can only hope that Alltel will roll out an unlimited plan if this whole Voice2TXT service goes well. Transcribed voicemails are sent as text-messages (not counted against any text-message limit - you are paying an arm and a leg for this service in the first place), after which the voicemail can be casually read at your earliest convenience. The new service requires that Alltel users reset their voicemail system and re-record their greeting. Once that’s done, they’ll never have to listen to a voicemail ever again - as long as their wallets can support the habit. • Alltel gives parents control over mobile content

We already saw AT&T launch their parental-control service, Smart Limits , and now it seems Alltel is getting with the family-friendly game-plan. Alltel will be rolling out its “Parental Control” service in early 2008, giving parents control over what content their kids will be viewing online. Parents can set viewing filters to keep the mobile web browsing experience as safe as the locked-down desktop experience. And, Alltel will be offering up “Parental Control” sans a monthly fee. The fee-free model should be a hit with families. Alltel - soon to be family-friendly. • Verizon beats T-Mobile for top spot in J.D. Power Customer Satisfaction Suvery

Why do we always have good things to say about T-Mobile? It’s not their wireless service (reception and data speeds are a bit lackluster), but rather their customer service that keeps the Magenta-trademarking company at the top of our list of US carriers. You see, T-Mobile has been on a customer satisfying stint - T-Mobile has taken first place in the past five J.D. Power customer satisfaction surveys. We were a bit surprised that Verizon Wireless actually inched out T-Mobile for the top spot in the J.D Power customer satisfaction ranking. The most recent customer satisfaction survey put Verizon Wireless just one point ahead of T-Mobile’s score of 725. AT&T garnered third-place with 708 points, and Alltel and Sprint Nextel bring up the bottom two spots with scores of 695 and 679, respectively. But, we’re not going to dole out any praise to Verizon Wireless just yet. You see, average customer satisfaction scores have been sliding downhill since last year - a 12-point decline year-on-year, and a 7-point decline since the previous survey. It looks like these guys better get into customer-satisfying mode soon. Those pro-rated ETFs might help . [Via: Mobile Burn ] ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:J.D.
