  • Samsung A747 SLM goes live on AT&T

The slim Samsung A747 clamshell that we spotted on the FCC’s website has finally come out of hiding and into AT&T’s stable handsets. We speculated that the Samsung A747 flip-phone would be the dual-band successor to the music-centric AT&T SYNC and it seems we were right. The Samsung A747 will be hitting AT&T’s network as the AT&T Samsung SLM - in homage to the clamshell’s slim design - and will be the first Napster Mobile -compatible handset in the carrier’s lineup. And, the Samsung A747 SLM’s brushed metal exterior packs in a 2 megapixel camera, large external color display, Video Share, mobile banking , AT&T Mobile Music, stereo Bluetooth, and external memory microSD - making this a solid mid-range musicphone. The Napster Mobile service will allow users to download songs directly to the Samsung SLM for $1.99 per song or $7.49 for five songs. And, every download is complemented by an email that allows the user to download the Napster Mobile songs to the user’s home computer. If you’re looking for a mobile phone that can download Napster’s huge portfolio of music directly to the handset, then the AT&T Samsung A747 SLM might be just the ticket. And that brushed metal finish is definitely a winner.
