  • Amp'd Mobile CEO Peter Adderton and Co. may be preparing to join WiMAX ISP Clearwire

Peter Adderton, former CEO of defunct MVNO Amp’d Mobile is reportedly making plans to jump ship and catch a ride on Clearwire . Although Adderton denies such rumors, MocoNews has reliable sources saying that the once-CEO and his executive content team (Amp’d Live) are making preparations to hook up with Clearwire - the WiMAX ISP that recently inked a deal with Sprint to rollout a nationwide WiMAX network. It’s interesting to note to that Clearwire showed interest in buying Amp’d before the Chapter 11 filling. And, with Adderton and his content team heading to a company with no content initiative, we’re hearing speculation that the Amp’d Live team will be trying to replicate their Amp’d dreams through Clearwire’s WiMAX network. Apparently, pile-driving Amp’d Mobile into the ground didn’t hurt Mr. Adderton’s prospects for future employment. You go, Pete! • Discovery Channel and Animal Planet launch mobile video-content in UK - part of Vodafone and Orange Sky Mobile service

There’s nothing like watching a bunch of melodramatic bike builders and graphic shark attacks to help you relax on your lunch break. We can’t get enough of the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet’s mesmerizing programming, and it seems that the UK feels the same. Lucky UK subscribers on Vodafone or Orange networks will soon be seeing new mobile-content from Discovery Networks - Discovery Turbo (Discover Channel’s mobile-content channel) and the Animal Planet. The mobile video-content will be offered through Vodafone and Orange’s Sky Mobile service. Discovery Turbo will be serving up 20-minute clips of shows like The Garage and American Chopper - the shows will be updated every weekday and served on-demand. The Animal Planet will be offering one hour’s worth of short segments per week (from shows like Meerkat Manor and Crocodile Hunter Diaries ) - updated weekly and on-demand . Aww, those meerkat’s are so darned cute. Wait, uh, those choppers are awesome - yea, that’s what we meant to say. • ShoZu 3.2 adds support for more destinations, GPS tagging

Popular media uploading application Shozu was recently updated with support for more destinations and GPS tagging. Among the new things you could expect in the version 3.2, we highlight: Increased Upload Limit - now you can upload files up to 10MB each. That’s of course if you’re on an unlimited data plan and on a 3G network. Otherwise, we wouldn’t suggest uploading of such large files. More Destinations - The new version of ShoZu supports over two dozen destinations like Facebook, Windows Live Spaces, Vox, Picasa, and LiveJournal. Virtually all the popular media sharing services are supported. CC Multiple Destinations - With the idea to save its users’ bandwidth costs, ShoZu added support for a single media file upload to multiple destinations at once. More ZuCasts - there are now more ZuCasts available for download and they are now easier to find — you can browse ZuCast listings by both topic and a provider. GPS Tagging - ShoZu now supports geo-tagging. If you upload the photos taken with your mobile phone, which is at the same time paired with a GPS unit (or a GPS is built inside the phone), ShoZu can automatically tag uploads with the GPS co-ordinates. Use Flickr maps and your GPS-tagged photos will automatically appear on your map! I’m a big fan of ShoZu and can’t help myself in writing nothing but the best about them — or that’s at least they’re doing to great job! ShoZu works on almost all smartphones, and is available as a free download. • Official iPhone RSS reader?

Just when we were wondering how will users read the RSS feeds on their iPhones, it seems that Apple has made its own online RSS reader available. I say “it seems” as we don’t have an official word from Cupertino - rather the URL ( http://reader.mac.com/ ) suggests that the RSS reader is the real deal. Plus, it’s not visible on any other browser except the iPhone’s Safari — I’ve tried with Nokia’s Safari-based S60 browser and it doesn’t work as well. Now, let me speculate for a moment. Is this the product of cooperation between Apple and Google? I certainly hope it is. That would mean complete synchronization of mobile and desktop Google Reader experiences.
