  • AT&T adds LG Invision to Mobile TV lineup

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Just as we'd envisioned , the Invision candybar (if a phone this stubby can, in fact, be called a candybar) from LG is now a reality for AT&T. The phone becomes just AT&T's third to support its MediaFLO -based Mobile TV service, taking a similar line to Samsung's Access by stuffing a landscape display, 1.3-megapixel camera, and HSDPA into a squarish case that's sure to make minimalists and traditionalists swoon; what's more, it also takes the honor of being AT&T's smallest Mobile TV-equipped handset to date. It's available today for $99.99 with a $50 rebate and two years' worth of commitment -- just be sure to factor the cost of the Mobile TV add-on into your budget. • LG's CB630 "Invision" coming to AT&T Mobile TV in August

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS So, we figure one of two things has happened here: either the Samsung Access has been a solid seller for AT&T, leading the carrier to request a near-clone from competitor LG -- or LG saw the Access and felt compelled to provide a clone of its own volition. Either way, the CB630 Invision is getting to the AT&T Mobile TV fight a little late, because we're actually hearing that the Access is already scheduled for an official sunset (not Sunset ) on August 24, along with the Sony Ericsson Z750 , Samsung SLM , and the Mobile TV-less version of the LG Vu , the CU915. We're also hearing that it'll launch on August 13 for $99.99 on contract with a $50 rebate, so getcha popcorn ready, people. [Thanks, anonymous tipster] Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • LG throws India a three-pack of new models

Filed under: Handsets , LG , GSM From the very low to the relatively high end, three new models LG's unleashed on its Indian customers this month run the full range of price points while still managing to pack in music playback across the board. Starting on the bottom, the KP110 is a member of LG's Bullet series (we're not seeing the resemblance to an actual munition, but whatevs) and is being targeted squarely at first-time phone buyers with a microSD slot and FM radio headlining the feature list. Next, the Dynamite KP320's actually a heck of a phone -- 3.2 autofocus megapixels worth, to be exact -- with TV out and A2DP to boot. Rounding out the launches in LG's global KF510 fashion slider with a 3 megapixel cam and a pair of color choices. Look for the three to run Rs. 2,899, 7,990, and 12,250 (about $69, $190, and $291) respectively. [Via Unwired View ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • AT&T announces AT&T Mobile TV for May launch

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , Samsung , ATT They haven't revealed anything we didn't already know , but AT&T's finally come out with a semi-firm date for the launch of its MediaFLO-powered mobile TV service which will be branded simply as "AT&T Mobile TV." It'll be available to subscribers in May -- no specific date just yet -- on two exclusive handsets, the Prada-esque LG Vu and the more pedestrian Samsung Access ; the Vu features an expansive touchscreen and 2 megapixel camera, while the Access makes do with a smaller landscape display and a 1.3 megapixel sensor. Both feature Bluetooth and 3G data, but the real story here is Mobile TV itself, which will come with two new channels that are exclusive to AT&T (in other words, unavailable on the other live MediaFLO service, VCAST TV from Verizon). The latest, hottest way to burn productivity on the go gets real in just a few short weeks, folks, so finish up whatever remaining work you have now . • LG introduces unusual S60-based KT610 candybar

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS It isn't terribly often that LG dabbles in the wide world of Symbian, so when it does, there's reason to take note. The KT610 features a 2.4 inch VGA (yes, VG frickin' A) display that flips up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. It runs Symbian 9.2 and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (we'd have preferred FP2, but what can you do) and also includes integrated GPS and support for HSDPA up to 3.6Mbps. We don't have pictures of this hot little number just yet, but hopefully we'll catch it on display at Mobile World Congress in the next day or two. • Sprint slips some LG LX260 details

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Sprint-Nextel , 1xRTT , CDMA So the good news is that this upcoming LG LX260 for Sprint looks pretty trick from the microscopic image we've been able to grab -- nifty blue and black color scheme, QWERTY slide -- pretty much what we were expecting from the rendering floating around a while back. That's all well and good. What isn't good, though, is that Sprint's developer site also reveals the the device won't have anything more than 1xRTT to push bits and bytes around. Given the nifty form factor, EV-DO seems like a foregone conclusion to us, but we suppose that'll go a long way toward keeping pricing in the double digits on contract. Other juicy tidbits confirmed here include a 220 x 176 display, 64MB of RAM, 64MB of ROM with microSD expansion, and a 1.3 megapixel cam. Fourth quarter, here we come! • Sprint's roadmap for remainder of '07 outed, too?

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , LG , Motorola , Palm , Pantech , RIM , Samsung , Sanyo , UTStarcom , Palm OS , Windows Mobile , 1xRTT , EV-DO , CDMA Following a thorough run-through of Verizon's plans for the rest of the year, this broader peep into Sprint's near future than we've seen before -- if real, anyway -- means that we now pretty much know everything there is to know about the wide world of CDMA here in the States for the next few months. It's a warm, fuzzy feeling, ain't it? Anyway, let's have a look: Palm is said to come swinging in with two, the 500 on the low end with a $99 price point on October 14 and an 800w ("w" stands for Windows Mobile 6 here, friends) up top -- though the latter doesn't grace shelves until Q1 of '08. Novatel gets down with an updated version of the U720 dubbed U727 (what else?) come September 30. Sanyo meanwhile should add the S1 candybar to replace the SCP-4930 on October 14, but November 4 is allegedly when things really start to heat up. That day should bring the LG LX260 , RIM BlackBerry Pearl 2 , HTC Vogue , and the UTStarcom PX-00, a low-cost Rev A data card to replace the PX-500 . The Motorola Q9c -- possibly with GSM international roaming -- should drop by a little later in November, while a dual-mode CDMA / GSM rendition of the Samsung BlackJack replaces the IP-830w early next year. Again, this is all unconfirmed, but it seems plausible enough. We'll throw up any corroborating info as we get it. [Via Slashphone ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Sprint event showcases CDMA Touch, LG Rumor, and more

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , LG , Palm , RIM , Samsung , Sanyo , Sprint-Nextel , Verizon Wireless , Palm OS , Windows Mobile , 1xRTT , EV-DO , CDMA If you've been patiently awaiting details about, well, a whole slew of handsets, chances are that a recent Sprint event held the answers to a-many of those very questions. First up was the Palm Centro (also coined Gandolf and Treo 800 ), which you've already seen plenty of earlier today . Moving on, the Sprint Touch (read: CDMA ) was said to be rockin' a potent 400MHz CPU, and it also touted EV-DO, 128MB of RAM, a two-megapixel camera, built-in GPS "to be activated in a Rev A upgrade," and a likely launch date in November. Furthermore, an EV-DO BlackBerry Pearl was on display along with a "petite candybar" from Sanyo, the sliding LG Rumor, and the Sprint Airave home cell site (once known as the Samsung Ubicell ). We know you're craving the dirt on all of the aforementioned gizmos, so be sure and hit the read link for the full skinny. Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Pantech C150 and LG Trax now on AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Pantech , ATT , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS As expected , AT&T has officially added a couple to its stable -- one on the midrange and one at the very bottom. The LG Trax -- once known as the CU575 -- has gotten plenty of press recently as the anticipated replacement for the CU500, offering stereo Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, HSDPA, and a cool external touch strip for music control. The Pantech C150 , meanwhile, looks like a great candybar for the price (free, that is) considering that it still manages to rock a VGA cam and Bluetooth support, and we're digging the pure white. Grab both now for $130 and $0 on contract, respectively. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] Read - Pantech C150 Read - LG Trax Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • LG's "3G for all" KU250 on sale this month

Filed under: Handsets , LG , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , UMTS What you're looking at here, LG's KU250 , might be the first 3G phone some folks in developing nations ever see. Chosen to lead off the GSM Association's "3G for all" campaign to bring high-speed data outside its typical industrialized comfort zone, the 15mm candybar goes on sale this month in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East on a variety of carriers. Pricing will likely vary from market to market, but the goal is to keep it cheap -- pretty impressive considering the phone's video calling capability, media player with support for AAC+ and WMA, microSD expansion, and 1.3 megapixel cam. • LG's KX256 takes Shine downmarket

Filed under: Handsets , LG Maybe LG's trying to zing Motorola for allegedly ripping off the Chocolate flip with the KRZR , but the Moto-ish-ness of this here KX256's keypad is absolutely undeniable. It's apparently a member of the Shine family, albeit a lower-end one with a 1.3 megapixel camera and a rather thick looking body (by Shine standards, anyway). Other features include Bluetooth, integrated radio, and that only-in-Asia availability that's destined to get you a few looks if you somehow manage to 1) get this phone elsewhere and 2) get it working on your local carrier. • LG KE770 Shine gets official

Filed under: Handsets , LG , GSM LG just kicked out their LG-KE770 all official-like with a Moscow unveiling. Why Moscow? Well, it's apparently making its debut there next month with those candybar crazed Russian kids. The KE770 joins the US-friendly VX8700 clam and Euro-friendly slider to complete that magical cellphone design trifecta. We're talking a slim 9-mm thin, 2 megapixel camera, microSD (we presume) expansion, and likely limited to tri-band GSM; at least initially. One more pic after the break just kicks.
