  • LG unveils 2008 lineup - two stand out but the rest…

Yesterday Sony Ericsson and Motorola announced their new handsets at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Now LG’s got in on the act with its 2008 line-up. Already award-winning at the CES Innovations Awards, LG’s handsets are bound to get a lot of interest before their releases later this year. LG’s certainly got form [...]
  • Shiny releases coming up for AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Samsung , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS In case our really poorly constructed pun in the title didn't help reveal what we're talking about, let's come right out with it: we're hearing that the LG CU720 Shine slider should be launching as soon as today, and certainly within the next handful of days. Along with it will be the CU515 (also from LG), the Samsung A747 flip, and the BlackJack2 on the smartphone end of the spectrum. It's a 3G cornucopia -- just in time for Thanksgiving, eh? • Want the LG CU515 now? Check Amazon, not AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , LG , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS AT&T's yet to officially announce the LG CU515 , but no worries -- interested parties can start registering their desire to grab LG's latest 3G flip via Amazon right this second. It really isn't anything to get too fired up about, but hey -- we'll take just as many midrange 3G handsets for US frequencies as manufacturers want to pump out. The CU400 successor offers up a 1.3 megapixel camera, PTT support, stereo Bluetooth, microSD, and a monochrome external display, all while ditching the stub aerial that plagued its forebear. Actually, on second thought, take your time announcing this one, AT&T; we got kinda bored with it just rattling off the specs. • Updated AT&T availability dates!

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Motorola , Nokia , Palm , Pantech , RIM , Samsung , Sony Ericsson , UTStarcom , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS , HSUPA Like pretty much everything else in life, carriers' launch dates tend to slip, sometimes to the extreme (oh, come on, you can't tell us you've never procrastinated to the point where you couldn't make a due date!). To that end, we've gotten an updated look at AT&T's expected drop dates , and it seems like the wait has gotten a little longer for a few of the more anticipated handsets in the pipe. Some devices like the red version of the Nokia 6555 have slipped a couple weeks, while others -- the lowly Samsung A127 comes to mind -- have actually moved up. The Pantech Duo has also been pushed out from October 9 to the 30th, possibly to give the just-launched Tilt a little breathing room in the spotlight. Click on for the full list! • Updated look at AT&T's upcoming launches

Filed under: HTC , LG , Motorola , Nokia , Others , Pantech , RIM , Sony Ericsson , UTStarcom , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We've just been tipped on a fresh roadmap for AT&T's fall launches, and goodness, there's a little something for everyone in here! Note that these are order dates, subject to change -- not necessarily in-store dates -- so your mileage may vary trying to grab these devices on the dates you see here. First up, LG rolls out the CG180 and CU515 "Chiwoo" on October 2. Nokia adds another color for the 6555 on October 11, red, which we think will suite it quite nicely. Speaking of new colors, Sony Ericsson brings a black version of the W580i on October 9. The Pantech Duo -- a device we suspect many folks are getting fired up over -- should hit on the same day. From Motorola, the Q9 Global becomes orderable just a few days from now, September 25, alongside the Tilt from HTC. UTStarcom outs the AMOI-sourced 5700 on October 9, giving folks a low cost (albeit non-3G) Windows Mobile option. RIM gets busy with the Curve 8310 on October 4, effectively sunsetting the original 8300 by adding GPS into the mix. On the data modem side, Sierra and Option will both be contributing HSUPA devices in October. Let's hear it for speedy uploads! Follow the break for the full roadmap. • Some upcoming AT&T launches?

Filed under: Handsets , Samsung , ATT , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We've received some information detailing phones that AT&T apparently plans to launch in the not-too-distant future; we don't even have dates or prices just yet, but a few of these are juicy enough so that we thought we'd pass it along anyhow. Samsung looks to be launching the A117 "Jayhawk" and A127 "Mbenz" (both on prepaid), the A517 "Lion," and the A737 "Peridot" in metal, orange, and lime. Nokia contributes the attractive 6555 "Inferno" and a refreshed N75 with stereo Bluetooth and a new UI. From LG we get the CU515 "Chiwoo" and CU720 "Saturn," while Pantech brings us that crazy dual slide Windows Mobile 6 device as the C810b. Good times! • LG CU515 revealed by FCC, successor to LG CU400

It looks like LG’s got the successor to the unsightly CU400 handset working it’s way to a US launch soon. The FCC just green-lighted the LG CU515 for 3G-duty on AT&T’s network. This FCC approval bodes well for the rumored September launch date of the LG CU515. We’ll keep an eye out for you guys! • LG's CU515 for AT&T rocks the FCC

Filed under: Handsets , LG , ATT , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS In our humblest of opinions, the LG CU400 looked out of date the very day it was released, so we're delighted to hear that its replacement is coming along nicely. The CU515, destined for AT&T's 3G network, has apparently passed FCC muster on its way to a supposed September release . We don't know much about the thing other than that it'll rock 3G data and sport a black outer shell, much like its predecessor. Kill the aerial while you're at it, eh, LG? • LG's rumored roadmap for AT&T

Filed under: Handsets , LG , ATT , GSM , GPRS , EDGE , HSDPA We're hearing about a bevy of new handsets from LG that should -- by should, we mean it is rumored -- be landing at a store near you between now and the end of year. First up, LG's CU575 "Trax" -- that we've been hearing about for a while now -- may have finally found a solid date with AT&T, look for it to arrive around about August 17th. The LG CU400 is getting refreshed with the LG CU515, an all-black 3G handset that looks like a cross between the CU400 and CU500, expected September. Also rolling out is the CU720 or Shine a 3G slider with a 2 megapixel camera in September -- we've been waiting on this for some time, thanks AT&T. Of course, we've saved the sassiest tidbit for last, the MediaFLO -enabled LG CU920 or Prada will also debut this year from AT&T, but this guy will show in early December. We look forward to the angry head to head competition from the touch screen (almost) twins. Of course, don't shake angry fists at us if some of this doesn't come true, rumors have a way of changing with time. [Thanks, Superman] Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
