  • LG's VX8360 for Verizon in gory detail

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Verizon Wireless , EV-DO , CDMA So Verizon's still trying to clear out VX8350 inventory, but as soon as it does, we'll all start to see this little gem show up. The VX8360's been rumored for some time now -- heck, it was originally pegged for an October '08 launch -- but there's really no need to get too worked up about the delay, seeing how your $50 on contract after rebate is only going to land you a 1.3-megapixel camera and a positively forgettable design. EV-DO and VZ Navigator support are nice, but frankly, it's starting to get hard to find a Verizon phone that doesn't support nav, so call us when this is free on contract, guys! • LG Rhythm officially beats on US Cellular

Filed under: Handsets , LG , EV-DO , CDMA , US Cellular You knew it was coming , and now the day your heart has been waiting for has finally arrived. Effective immediately, LG's Rhythm is available to US Cellular customers, offering up a 1-inch circular touchscreen and "one of the most advanced music systems available in mobile phones today (oh, really?)." To be fair, the player does include DSP and an audio equalizer tuned by Mark Levinson, and the FM transmitter / 3.5-millimeter headphone jack exudes seriousness about audio. You'll also find a microSD card slot, 2-inch main LCD, a 1.3-megapixel camera / camcorder and Bluetooth 2.0; subscribers can snatch this slider up in black or pink (a USCC exclusive, mind you) for $79.95 after rebates and contractual obligations. • LG Swift clamshell launches for $49.99 on Alltel

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Alltel , EV-DO , CDMA So, you're looking for simplicity, huh? Have a gander at the LG Swift, which is now available on Alltel Wireless for those with the most basic of needs. The clamshell boasts a "next-generation keypad featuring Fastap Press-to-Experience keys, which integrates six raised one-touch access Quick Keys with a traditional numeric keypad," and beyond that, it also offers up external music control buttons, twin speakers, Bluetooth support, a 1.3-megapixel camera, one-touch speakerphone and a memory card slot. Sadly, the headphone jack is of the 2.5-millimeter variety, though you can choose between red and blue color schemes. If you're sold already, all's that left to do is hand over your $49.99 and agree to being locked in for two solid years. • Telus tantalizes with LG Chocolate GiG music phone

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Telus Mobility , EV-DO , CDMA Americans may know the pictured handset by another name (psst... it's Chocolate 3 , you knew that!), but Telus Mobility customers will soon be referring to it as the LG Chocolate GiG. Available now on the Canadian carrier, said flip phone offers up 1GB of internal storage, an incredibly convenient 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, a spinning scroll wheel, 2-megapixel camera, 2.2-inch QVGA main display and stereo Bluetooth support. You'll also get access to Telus mobile radio (XM) as well as Telus mobile music, both of which should keep you adequately stocked with artfully imposed sine waves. It's available now for the taking at $99.99 (3-year contract), $199.99 (2-year deal), $249.99 (1-year agreement) or $299.99 without any obligations. • Compact-esque LG Reveal and Shimmer Kit primping for Bell launch

Filed under: Handsets , Peripherals , LG , Bell Mobility , CDMA The shock! The horror! We're beginning to see signs of an absolutely impossible trend, one that just cannot be coming to fruition. Merely hours after spotting the compact-like Samsung CLEO comes an obvious rival: the LG Reveal . The chic flip phone is said to boast a full QWERTY keypad (for realz?), a black or purple motif, a 2.0-megapixel camera, built-in Bluetooth and a 2.4-inch display. Also of note, the handset will be offered with an exclusive Swarovski Crystal Bluetooth headset as part of the LG Shimmer Kit, and each one of these packages will lead to a $5 donation to Fashion Cares. Mum's the word on pricing / exact availability, but we'd bet dollars to donuts that yet another makeup compact-turned-flip phone appears before too long. Even if it's just in our nightmares. • Telus launches LG Dare for as low as $99.99

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Telus Mobility , EV-DO , CDMA LG's Dare is pretty old news here in the US of A, but Canucks looking to get in on that touchscreen action finally can thanks to Telus Mobility. Starting now, users can snap up the LCD-dominated mobile for $349.99 off contract, $299.99 with a 1-year agreement, $199.99 with a 2-year nod and $99.99 with terms that extend far, far into the unknown future. So, Canada -- can you dig that, or are you already waiting for something far more intriguing ? [Via mobilesyrup ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • LG VX5500 for Verizon finally gets pictured, world lets out a collective sigh of relief

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Verizon Wireless , CDMA Alright, so maybe this non-3G crapshell isn't the phone that the world has been waiting for; maybe not by a long shot. Be that as it may, the VX5400 -replacing VX5500 isn't looking half bad, featuring (if you can call these "features") a VGA camera, Bluetooth, and count 'em -- not one, but two displays. Looks like it's still tracking for a late October release, so get your wallets out, but don't plan on pulling out more than a few crisp bills because it'll run a mere $49.99 on a two-year setup. • LG Lotus, Samsung Rant and Highnote now available from Sprint

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Samsung , Sprint , EV-DO , CDMA Those crazy new Samsungs and LGs (well, LG singular) reppin' Sprint's fall lineup have dropped into stores dressed and ready for retail, and text fanatics are definitely the ones making out like bandits here. Starting out on the low end, the Samsung Rant drops by for $49.99 on contract in your choice of red or black, giving the LG Rumor some solid competition and upping the ante with EV-DO. The Highnote, also a fruit of Samsung's powerful loins, rocks the music angle with an integrated loudspeaker that functions as the second slide of a dual-sliding mechanism -- it runs $99.99 on contract in red or blue. Finally, the Lotus from LG takes the whole clamshell concept and flattens it out a bit, making room for a full QWERTY keyboard underneath along with a landscape display. It's available in purple (and not just any purple -- fancy purple) or black for $149.99 on contract. Read - Samsung Rant Read - Samsung Highnote Read - LG Lotus Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Alltel shows its love for smooth jazz, oldies with LG Rhythm

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Alltel , EV-DO , CDMA We're always pleasantly surprised to see a carrier beat the rumored release date for a phone, and that's certainly happened here with the LG Rhythm, a phone we'd heard would bow in the middle of next month. The trick slider features a secondary touch-sensitive display in the center of the d-pad -- not a feature you see every day -- and has an integrated FM transmitter, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD expansion, and a graphic equalizer personally tuned by none other than Mark Levinson himself, making this one hell of a little music phone. It launches today in black and white for $119.99 after rebate on contract. Read - Rhythm (white) Read - Rhythm (black) Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • LG VX8360 gets pictured catalog-style, looks round

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Verizon Wireless , EV-DO , CDMA Last we'd heard, this bad boy is coming in just a couple weeks' time, so it's good to see some promotional materials floating around making mention of it, right? The VX8360 is said to feature a 1.3-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, EV-DO, microSD expansion, and if we had to venture an educated guess, we'd say a color secondary display with external music controls. Nothing to write home about, granted -- but we'd be willing to bet Verizon is gonna part with these for a song. [Thanks, Thomas S.] Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Minimalists, drunkards rejoice: LG Wine goes live on Bell

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Bell Mobility , CDMA If "function follows form" is your mantra, listen up -- especially if you happen to be in Canada. LG's curiously-named Wine has come to the land of polar bears, maple syrup, and adorable baby seals, offering very little in the way of bells or whistles (seriously, we're talking about a 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth 1.2 here) but keeping the style dial turned to 11 -- and hey, at least it's still got a QVGA main display and GPS packed in there somewhere. It'll run you $79.95 now on a three-year contract in your choice of black or the always tasteful gold. [Via MobileSyrup ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
