  • AT&T adds LG Invision to Mobile TV lineup

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Just as we'd envisioned , the Invision candybar (if a phone this stubby can, in fact, be called a candybar) from LG is now a reality for AT&T. The phone becomes just AT&T's third to support its MediaFLO -based Mobile TV service, taking a similar line to Samsung's Access by stuffing a landscape display, 1.3-megapixel camera, and HSDPA into a squarish case that's sure to make minimalists and traditionalists swoon; what's more, it also takes the honor of being AT&T's smallest Mobile TV-equipped handset to date. It's available today for $99.99 with a $50 rebate and two years' worth of commitment -- just be sure to factor the cost of the Mobile TV add-on into your budget. • Video: AT&T launching Mobile TV May 4th, demonstrated on LG Vu

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , Samsung , ATT MediaFLO is about to cut loose for AT&T customers this morning and we've got video to prove it. After the break you'll find Mobile TV running on LG's new $300 (2-year, after $100 rebate) Vu, one of just two Mobile TV compatible handsets launching on AT&T May 4th -- the other being the $200 (2-year, after $100 rebate) Samsung Access . Performance looks reasonably snappy when scrolling through the channel guide although some of the exclusive PIX and CNN Mobile Live content is not yet available. S'ok, AT&T has three more days to throw the big blue switch on the broadcast TV service which includes a $15/month unlimited Mobile TV access plan. Hear that Verizon? AT&T's about to step all over your portable TV game in the US market. • LG Vus popping up in AT&T stores ahead of launch

Filed under: Handsets , LG , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Stores have started stocking up on Vus ahead of their launch next week, and we're getting a little photography here to prove it. It looks like this one is an honest-to-goodness CU920, too, meaning it sports MediaFLO reception -- either that, or AT&T was too lazy to put the Mobile TV-less CU915 model in a different package without the "TV" icon on the screen. We're still hearing May 5 is the official launch day for these, but it seems some locations are selling early, so try your luck and let us know how it goes, k? • LG enV(2) graces Verizon tomorrow

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Verizon Wireless , EV-DO , CDMA Get those textin' thumbs ready, peeps, because your latest weapon of choice is just about ready for you. LG's enV(2) -- a phone that we'd argue takes attractive design far more seriously than its predecessor -- will be available in exchange for a reasonable sum of cash (or cash equivalent) tomorrow, April 30, in Verizon stores across the land. Far more than a mere text machine, the enV(2) features a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, GPS, and a big ol' 2.4-inch display when the clam is opened. The only question left, really, is black or maroon? Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • LG's 5 megapixel KF750 with DivX rebranded Secret, shhh

Filed under: Handsets , LG LG's KF750 was just announced official-like by the non-rioting folks at Lucky Goldstar. With it, we get the official specs courtesy of, uh, Photography Blog . Why is a site for digital photogs carrying a cellphone press release, you ask? Easy, this one's got a 5 megapixel camera with face recognition and the ability to shoot DivX video at 120fps. A member of LG's Black Label series, the 11.8-mm slider is the thinnest 5 megapixel cameraphone on the market. Unfortunately the press release is heavy on fluff and light on specs so we can only tell you that it'll also be sporting a touch-screen, suite of mobile Google apps, and Bluetooth when it makes its European debut sometime this year, presumably, for an unknown price. Update : A few more details are rolling in: 2.4-inch display, haptic feedback, and available in May. • Verizon surprises no one with XV6900, Motorola Q9c, and LG enV(2)

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , LG , Motorola , Verizon Wireless , Windows Mobile , EV-DO , CDMA Well, here are three that we didn't see coming or anything -- Verizon has officially announced the Motorola Q9c, LG enV(2), and HTC-sourced XV6900 today, all for April availability. The Moto Q9c is a more business-savvy version of the consumer-focused Q9m that was launched on Verizon late last year, with the carrier playing up the new model's VZ Navigator support, Windows Mobile 6 Standard load (yippee?), and -- unfortunately for those whose companies distrust photography -- a 1.3 megapixel camera. This one will launch for $249.99 after rebate on a two-year plan. Next up we have the enV(2) -- a phone we mistakenly identified previously as the enV2 because we just never could've seen those bonus parenthesis coming -- which succeeds the wildly popular enV and injects a fresh dose of industrial design. Features include a 2 megapixel cam, 2.4 inch internal display accompanied by a smaller screen up front that's just big enough for doing calling duty, microSD slot, and the flip-up QWERTY keyboard the enV series is famous for. It'll run $129.99 after rebate on contract when it launches next month. Finally, the XV6900 brings Verizon in line with Sprint's Touch , though in a far paler shade. It features the full host of Windows Mobile 6 Professional goodies alongside a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, Bluetooth, and HTC's TouchFLO interface. Like the others, it's slated for April availability and will run $349.99 on contract after $50 rebate. • AT&T announces AT&T Mobile TV for May launch

Filed under: Handsets , Multimedia , LG , Samsung , ATT They haven't revealed anything we didn't already know , but AT&T's finally come out with a semi-firm date for the launch of its MediaFLO-powered mobile TV service which will be branded simply as "AT&T Mobile TV." It'll be available to subscribers in May -- no specific date just yet -- on two exclusive handsets, the Prada-esque LG Vu and the more pedestrian Samsung Access ; the Vu features an expansive touchscreen and 2 megapixel camera, while the Access makes do with a smaller landscape display and a 1.3 megapixel sensor. Both feature Bluetooth and 3G data, but the real story here is Mobile TV itself, which will come with two new channels that are exclusive to AT&T (in other words, unavailable on the other live MediaFLO service, VCAST TV from Verizon). The latest, hottest way to burn productivity on the go gets real in just a few short weeks, folks, so finish up whatever remaining work you have now . • Alltel chimes in on the Glimmer: March 13 for $250

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Alltel , EV-DO , CDMA Just a day after LG's admission , Alltel's getting real with its mighty Glimmer touchscreen slider, a phone that combines the Shine series' glamor with the Viewty's touchscreen sensibility. As expected, the phone features a 2 megapixel camera, comprehensive media and gaming capability thanks to 128MB of integrated memory, microSD expansion, 3D graphics acceleration, and an MP3 player. GPS is in the mix too, so all told, we'd say the $249.99 on-contract price after rebates is roughly within the realm of reason. Expect Alltel to accept cash or credit in exchange for goods -- the Glimmer, specifically -- starting tomorrow. Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Alltel's LG Glimmer is real -- LG says so

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Alltel , EV-DO , CDMA The rumored LG Glimmer for Alltel has now been confirmed by way of LG itself, and while there's still no sight of the phone on the regional's own site, the AX830 moniker that the beautiful piece bears -- and the fact that Alltel's name is specifically mentioned in LG's press release -- pretty much says it all. The company calls out the Glimmer as basically a Shine with a touchscreen, which seems like a pretty accurate representation and a good 30,000 foot overview of everything LG's been trying to do in the marketplace for the past 18 months or so. Despite LG's own lack of insight into the phone's launch, we've independently heard through the grapevine that Alltel will be launching the Glimmer in just two days, the 13th. It'll go for $250 on a two-year contract after rebates, and sorry, Alltel employees -- there's going to be a two-week delay before you can buy your own to ensure that there are plenty to go around for customers. • LG introduces unusual S60-based KT610 candybar

Filed under: Handsets , LG , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS It isn't terribly often that LG dabbles in the wide world of Symbian, so when it does, there's reason to take note. The KT610 features a 2.4 inch VGA (yes, VG frickin' A) display that flips up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. It runs Symbian 9.2 and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (we'd have preferred FP2, but what can you do) and also includes integrated GPS and support for HSDPA up to 3.6Mbps. We don't have pictures of this hot little number just yet, but hopefully we'll catch it on display at Mobile World Congress in the next day or two. • LG's silver Prada gets a new on-screen QWERTY

Filed under: Handsets , LG Mmmm, the LG Prada (AKA, LG-KE850) was just turned out in silver. 18 European countries including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy will see the new version of LG's touchscreen later this month. Besides the color change the phone now features a proper on-screen QWERTY, not just T9 -- thank you LG! Really, that's all we could hope for.
