While I enjoy listening to music, I actually have a very small personal collection and primarily listen to the FM radio or stream my music over the internet. The recent iPhone 2.0 update opened my eyes to Pandora, AOL Radio, and Last.fm on mobile devices. I enjoy listening to Last.fm on the iPhone, but the fact that I cannot do anything else with the iPhone while I listen to music makes it quite limited for listening on the go. I then started looking around and found Last.fm clients for the Nokia N810, Windows Mobile devices, and now S60 devices so I am now able to rock out and get things done on the go.

James, Kevin, and I spent a bit more time than planned talking about the upcoming iPhone 3G on MobileTechRoundup show #138, but we eventually did move on to talk about lots more in the world of mobile tech. I talked about my experiences with upgrading the Nokia N78 over the air and James is going to try it out soon too. How much can be said about WiMAX and how much will it cost? Kevin let me know about Ubuntu MID Edition and I may actually load it on my Fujitsu U810 since the Intel A110 processor is supported. Great news that the public beta of Opera Mobile 9.5 will soon be available for Windows Mobile and UIQ owners. We also introduced listeners to the Nerd Club.

The mobile phone market is quite an exciting place to be and one of the ways to generate lots of hits on your site is to be the first to post pictures and/or a review of a rumored phone where you confirm that it does indeed exist. I have never had such a device myself, although I have had devices loaned to me by companies (under NDA) prior to their announcement and I have ALWAYS complied with the terms of those agreements. Charlie, from Nokia Conversations, just posted a blog post discussing his take on product leaks and I thought it was an interesting discussion.

The Swedish manufacturer of carrying cases for portable electronics, Krusell, has released their "Top 10"-list for May 2008. The list is based upon the number of pieces of model specific mobile and smart phone cases that have been ordered from Krusell during May 2008. Krusell's list is unique due to the fact that it reflects the sales of phones on six continents and in more than 50 countries around the globe. While my focus in the Mobile software Monday articles is on software for your mobile phones I wanted to branch out just a bit to include a service that I use in conjuction with software on my devices that I find absolutely essential to my usage of mobile devices. Jason Dunn runs the Thoughts Media sites and preached to me for a couple of years about the benefits of a hosted Exchange solution. I finally decided to give it a try just over a year ago and now I can never go back to syncing my PIM data via cables again. I subscribe to 4Smartphone (part of Jason's recommendation) with their Mobile level plan subscription (US$12.95/month) and sync my Windows Mobile, S60, Windows, and Mac devices to the service, with hopes to soon sync my iPhone when the 2.0 update is released.
