  • FCC approves AT&T’s Fuze (HTC Touch Pro)

We can’t wait to get our hands on the HTC Touch Pro. It really doesn’t matter to us if we get our mitts on the unlocked HTC Touch Pro straight from HTC or AT&T’s re-branded variant (the AT&T Fuze). The point is, we want to get our finger-grease all over the QWERTY-keyboard toting HTC Touch [...]

Sure, the HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) has already been playing nice with the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for some time now, courtesy of HTC. But, those of you with AT&T’s own-branded version of the HTC Kaiser - the AT&T Tilt - have had to wait for AT&T and HTC to join forces and roll-out a [...]

  • Unlock your AT&T Tilt 8925 to work on any GSM network - Turn your AT&T Tilt into an HTC Kaiser TyTn II

While HTC Kaiser TyTn II owners are enjoying the ability to surf any GSM network in the world, AT&T customers with a brand-new AT&T Tilt 8925 are stuck with the AT&T-flavored GSM network. Nevermind that HTC has been sued over the lack of a graphics hardware driver , a problem which also afflicts the HTC Kaiser TyTn II. HTC sells their mobile phones unlocked out of the box, but AT&T locked the GSM radio in their version of the HTC Kaiser - until now. XDA-Developer forums user, jockyw2001, has posted instructions on how to fully unlock ( SIM unlock ) your AT&T Tilt 8925 to work on any GSM network in your country. And, if you need to travel abroad and your AT&T Tilt doesn’t like to play nice on foreign networks, jockyw2001 has posted instructions to make that happen as well ( SuperCID ). Head on over to XDA-Developer forums to get your hands on the AT&T Tilt unlock and SuperCID solutions . • HTC announces Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade for AT&T 8525

If you’re an AT&T 8525 (HTC TyTn Hermes) owner, then you’ve probably been drooling over the launch of the HTC Kaiser TyTn II in the US as the AT&T Tilt . But, if you’ve been envious of the AT&T Tilt 8925 for its Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional OS, HTC’s got your back. Our favorite little ODM-turned-smartphone-giant has just released an official Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional ROM for all AT&T 8525’s. The WM6 upgrade is finally available for free and should help you deal with the little green devil sitting on your shoulder (ours kept telling us to go get an AT&T Tilt 8925…until we gave in and got one). The AT&T 8925 Tilt still has the upper hand in terms of features - 3 megapixel autofocus camera, tilting screen, integrated GPS - but if the freshness of WinMo6 is all your AT&T 8525 TyTn needs, then head on over to HTC’s download page and get crazy. That is, if you haven’t already gotten the AT&T 8525 WinMo6 ROM from xda-developers. Just back up your data before said craziness. The flashing that WM6 Pro ROM will wipe your data. • Microsoft launches System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 - pushing mobile enterprise mobile to the edge

So, we’re here at CTIA San Francisco 2007 and the first thing on our agenda was the Microsoft launch luncheon (try saying that three times, fast). Here’s what they’ve got planned… In keeping with the Microsoft’s expertise in enterprise mobile solutions, Microsoft has launched their first “dedicated mobile device management server” - Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008. And, to help roll-out device compatibility with the Mobile Device Manager, Microsoft has teamed up with AT&T and Sprint to bring Microsoft has keyed in on the business customer’s needs beyond the realm of simple email, contact management, and calendar sync-ing. They’re leveraging the Windows Mobile platform to bring a new level of integration and user-level management to the enterprise IT professional. With features like over-the-air application delivery and secure VPN connectivity, the Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 aims to ensure that fleet-management of Windows Mobile devices maintains “end-to-end data integrity” as well as providing secure access to corporate data - in other words, Windows Mobile device fleets can all be updated and synchronized with ease and allow user-corporate VPN connection under the watchful eye of the Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Center 2008. IT heads will be happy to hear that the new Mobile Device Center will employ an “always on” connection - affording them the control they need to maintain and ensure fleet integrity. Should the “always on” connection drop-out, Microsoft’s “fast reconnect” technology gets the user securely back online without having to re-authenticate. And, if the IT department sees a problem with any device in their fleet, System Center Mobile Device Manager provides the IT Administrator with the power to lock down a specific handset - they can disable Bluetooth, SMS/MMS, WLAN (WiFi), InfraRed, POP/IMAP...

  • AT&T finally sets launch date for AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser TyTn II) - holy grail of smartphones launches tomorrow!

We thought it would never happen. After missing rumored launch dates left and right , AT&T has finally set a launch date for their AT&T Tilt. It looks like AT&T is going to be offering up the US-spec HTC Kaiser TyTn II as the AT&T Tilt (without the front-facing camera) on October 5. The No. 1 wireless carrier will be asking AT&T Tilt hopefuls for $299.99 (and a 2-year contract) in return for all that 3 megapixel camera, 3G HSDPA, GPS, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, microSDHC (compatible with microSD cards up to 32GB), QWERTY-keyboard (with the cool tilting screen), and Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional goodness. It should be pretty obvious why we call this thing the “ holy grail ” of smartphones - a “superphone” if you will. If you still aren’t convinced that the AT&T Tilt is all that and a bag of chips, check out the video demo that Dusan posted. We can’t wait for Big Blue to drop the “holy grail” hotness on us tomorrow! We can almost taste it. • Live pics: AT&T Tilt spotted in the wild - Verizon VX6800 and Samsung SCH-i760

We’re really closing in on AT&T’s launch of their own-branded version of the hotness that is the HTC Kaiser TyTn II P4550 . Following on the heels of that AT&T Tilt mockup picture, we have real, live shots of the “holy grail” - snapped in the wild. The AT&T Tilt is looking mighty fine with it’s AT&T branding taking the place of that forward-facing video-call camera. Props to Mobility Today for getting their hands on these live shots of the HTC Kaiser in it’s AT&T-guise. Oh, and it looks like the AT&T Tilt is posing with the Verizon UTStarcom VX6800 and Samsung SCH-i760. Right, hybrid keyboard/keypad setups are nice and all, but we’re eyeing that US-spec Kaiser pretty hard. It’s just too bad that AT&T is going to miss their September 25 launch due to “network certification” issues. • First pics of the AT&T branded HTC Kaiser TyTn II - the AT&T Tilt is so close we can taste it

The HTC Kaiser (aka TyTn II, P4550, AT&T 8925 Tilt) is the “ holy grail ” of smartphone-ing. It packs the “perfect” feature set that has eluded mobile fanatics for some time now - and the AT&T subsidized version of the Kaiser is almost here. The European HTC Kaiser TyTn II has already launched, so we already know that the Kaiser’s blazing 400Mhz CPU, 2.8-inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel autofocus camera, GPS, WiFi, 3G (HSDPA), gobs of RAM/ROM, and full QWERTY keyboard - all powered by Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional - is the “holy of holies” that we’ve been searching for. AT&T should be dropping their own version of this baddest-ass smartphone sometime soon - as the AT&T 8925 Tilt (a fitting name, given the Kaiser’s cool, tilting slider-display). We still don’t have a hard launch date, but if online retailer Negri Electronics is on the money, we could see AT&T drop the “Tilt” on us come September 30. Negri is taking pre-orders on the AT&T 8925 and 8900 (without camera) and claims that they’ll have these badboys in stock by the end of the month. They’ve even posted pics of what seems to be an AT&T-branded Kaiser. We’ll keep you updated on the latest AT&T 8925 Tilt developments as we hear of them. It would be a shame if our Canadian friends got their hands on a Rogers Wireless-branded HTC Kaiser before us Yankees. The AT&T Tilt is so close we can taste it - and it tastes just like we expected. Slightly QWERTY-sweet with a kick of 3G-spice. Now we just need some pics of a T-Mobile branded HTC Kaiser - that would be nice.
