  • AT&T Fuze gets extravagant hands-on treatment

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA Now that HTC's Fuze is live on AT&T, a few lucky souls out there have gone ahead and emptied their wallets to make your purchasing decision just a little easier. The Fuze, otherwise known as the HTC Touch Pro, has been carefully photographed and videoed by the WinMo connoisseurs over at WMExperts , and quite candidly, we're simultaneously jealous and impressed with the level of detail here. If you're looking for loads of multimedia to keep you satisfied until you have a chance to score one of your own, the read link has the goods. • HTC Fuze now for sale on AT&T's web site

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT Well, that didn't take long -- the HTC Fuze just started trickling into AT&T retail stores , and now it's available for sale online as well. Just as we'd heard, pricing is set at $300 after rebate on a two-year contract, which makes the iPhone / BlackBerry Bold / Fuze decision all the more difficult for AT&T customers -- a dilemma we're guessing the suits in San Antonio are only too happy to inflict upon the gadget geek masses. So, what's it gonna be? [Thanks, Marco] HTC Fuze now for sale on AT&T's web site originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 23:04:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds . • Fuze rears its glossy head in some AT&T stores

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Can't be long now, right? First we had dummies , but these are the real deal, ladies and gentlemen -- a little over five ounces of HSDPA, VGA, TouchFLO 3D, QWERTY, and likely a bunch more letters and numbers we're not recalling at the moment. Retail Fuzes are trickling into stores as we speak, though they're apparently going under lock and key; as far as we can tell, none will be sold until AT&T drops the green flag. In the meantime, Sprint, pimp that Touch Pro of yours as hard as you can, because we're afraid your exclusivity is about to end. • AT&T Quickfire hits shelves a few days early

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA We hear that some truly lucky humans have gotten their hands on the AT&T Quickfire (also known as the Knick ), which is supposed to go on sale November 10th, so that means... yup about two days early. The asking price for the device was $149.99 (with a $50 mail in rebate) with a new 2 year contract. As for details, all we know is that it was purchased in an AT&T store by an unnamed mystery customer in a "small town." Sometimes it truly pays to live in the real America. • HTC's official Fuze page shows up... kinda

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , HSDPA If you had any lingering doubt that HTC's US, GSM version of the Touch Pro (AKA the Fuze ) was headed to AT&T in the near future , you can probably take a deep breath. Thanks to an eagle-eyed tipster, we're now able to view HTC's official page for the device, although it looks like they may not be done with all the coding, as an image of the Tilt is still being used as a placeholder. There's no mention of release date, though we do learn that the device will sport AT&T's Cellular Video and Mobile Music services, and a "unique AT&T defined 5 row slide out / slide away QWERTY keyboard," which definitely means nothing at all. Hit the read link if you don't believe us, but for goodness' sake -- you should see someone about that paranoia. • AT&T Fuze hitting on November 11 for $299.99?

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We figured those dummies probably meant something good was about to happen, and sure enough, evidence is building that we're just days away from an official Fuze release. Boy Genius Report has been ever so graciously provided with documentation suggesting that we'll see HTC's latest WinMo greatness on AT&T shelves come November 11 (just a day after the Quickfire ) for $299.99 after contract and rebate discounts have been applied -- or a solid $499.99 if you want to kick it commitment-free. That pricing is right in line with the Bold , making for an interesting, drama-rich showdown heading into the end of the year. Fight! • AT&T Fuze dummies popping up in stores

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS Sprint beat 'em with the Touch Pro , but that doesn't mean a throng of AT&T customers aren't going to be delighted to hear that the Fuze is now shipping to stores -- sort of. Retail locations are receiving dummy Fuzes now, which don't do much good if you're trying to store contacts, make appointments, or place calls, but at least give us a solid indication that retail availability ain't too far off. Sorry, Tilt -- you had a good run, but our lust definitely lies elsewhere at this point. • AT&T Fuze shows up again, this time courtesy of eBay

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We can't help but wonder who these mysterious individuals are who get pre-release gear from carriers and manage -- somehow -- to sneak it onto ginormous, hugely visible auction sites without getting into any hot water. Not to say we're complaining; after all, how else would we have the opportunity to see the Fuze's retail box (strangely devoid of AT&T branding) and get a second confirmation that there's going to be a big ol' AT&T logo slapped on the upper right corner of the face? Not to mention that this gives all us peasants the opportunity to scrape up and count the dimes that've collected underneath our couch, hoping beyond hope that we somehow have enough cash to place a bid. We never do, but we can dream. [Via wmpoweruser.com ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • HTC sets Window Mobile 6 upgrade deadline for October 31st

Filed under: Handsets , Software , HTC , ATT , T-Mobile , Windows Mobile Back in April of last year, HTC came clean with its Windows Mobile 6 upgrade plans . Fast forward to now, and the very same company is getting official with the cutoff plans. October 31st will be the very last day (no tricks, folks) for select Windows Mobile 5 users to get a free upgrade to WinMo 6 via HTC's website. More specifically, October 31st at 12:00PM GMT -- after the clock strikes 12:01PM, the download link will be removed for eternity. The affected handsets are the S621 , S620 , P4350 , P3300 and HTC Advantage , and while we'd typically encourage you to stop procrastinating and get on with the upgrade, we know in our hearts there's no way you're still rocking WinMo 5. Right? Right. [Via phonescoop ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Fuze turns up on AT&T's website, again

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT The Fuze , otherwise known as the HTC Touch Pro , first turned up briefly on AT&T's website more than a month ago only to be abruptly pulled down , but it's now finally made a reappearance, and it's apparently staying for good this time. As you might expect, however, there's not exactly anything new to be found, with AT&T's description of the device identical to the one it first put up, but if you had any doubts that the device was in fact headed to AT&T , and that it would indeed be called the Fuze, you can now safely put those to rest. Now, about that release date... [Thanks, Steve] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 unboxed, played with on video

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , Sony Ericsson , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA Oh yeah, you've seen Sony Ericsson's succulent XPERIA X1 unboxed in still image form , but there's just nothing like a little unpacking on video to really whet your appetite, right? Oh, and there's also some comparison action thrown in with the HTC Touch Pro, and of course, we get to see the OS in action. Hop on past the break to have a look, but we're warning you, those who covet easily will want to restrain themselves. • Latest spy shots show AT&T Fuze defaced with carrier's logo

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , ATT , Windows Mobile , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS We'd been encouraged in previous spy shots that AT&T was intending to keep a clean, brand-free look on the front of the Fuze , but what were we thinking? That'd never sit well with the suits up on the 49th floor of AT&T's headquarters (we just made that up, by the way -- we have no idea how many floors AT&T's headquarters has), and sure enough, the latest batch of shots is showing a big ol' logo slapped on the upper right of the face. The poster says release is currently planned for early November, but we'd say that target is about as solid as one of those Jello rings you make in a bundt mold. We'll believe it when it's on the shelf, as they say. [Via wmpoweruser ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
