  • HTC sets Window Mobile 6 upgrade deadline for October 31st

Filed under: Handsets , Software , HTC , ATT , T-Mobile , Windows Mobile Back in April of last year, HTC came clean with its Windows Mobile 6 upgrade plans . Fast forward to now, and the very same company is getting official with the cutoff plans. October 31st will be the very last day (no tricks, folks) for select Windows Mobile 5 users to get a free upgrade to WinMo 6 via HTC's website. More specifically, October 31st at 12:00PM GMT -- after the clock strikes 12:01PM, the download link will be removed for eternity. The affected handsets are the S621 , S620 , P4350 , P3300 and HTC Advantage , and while we'd typically encourage you to stop procrastinating and get on with the upgrade, we know in our hearts there's no way you're still rocking WinMo 5. Right? Right. [Via phonescoop ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
  • Still waiting to upgrade your AT&T 8525 to Windows Mobile 6.0? You still have time.

If you still haven’t upgraded your AT&T 8525 to the newer Windows Mobile 6.0 ROM, you still have time - luckily. You see, HTC and AT&T offered up the free upgrade for AT&T 8525 customers, with the caveat that the ROM would be taken offline on February 1. So, if you’ve been lagging on bringing back your device’s fresh and clean (install, that is) feeling, you just lucked out. It seems the download deadline has been lifted. AT&T 8525 customers will now have until this coming Halloween to download the AT&T 8525 Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional ROM upgrade . What are you waiting for? Do it already. • HTC announces Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade for AT&T 8525

If you’re an AT&T 8525 (HTC TyTn Hermes) owner, then you’ve probably been drooling over the launch of the HTC Kaiser TyTn II in the US as the AT&T Tilt . But, if you’ve been envious of the AT&T Tilt 8925 for its Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional OS, HTC’s got your back. Our favorite little ODM-turned-smartphone-giant has just released an official Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional ROM for all AT&T 8525’s. The WM6 upgrade is finally available for free and should help you deal with the little green devil sitting on your shoulder (ours kept telling us to go get an AT&T Tilt 8925…until we gave in and got one). The AT&T 8925 Tilt still has the upper hand in terms of features - 3 megapixel autofocus camera, tilting screen, integrated GPS - but if the freshness of WinMo6 is all your AT&T 8525 TyTn needs, then head on over to HTC’s download page and get crazy. That is, if you haven’t already gotten the AT&T 8525 WinMo6 ROM from xda-developers. Just back up your data before said craziness. The flashing that WM6 Pro ROM will wipe your data. • AT&T may be prepping HTC Kaiser for August release as the AT&T 8925

Ahh, the HTC Kaiser. We’ve been waiting for this incredible Windows Mobile smartphone for so long now, it’s amazing to think that it’s just around the proverbial corner. With a spec sheet that boasts 3G, QWERTY keyboard (with that super-trick spring-loaded, flip-up sliding screen), WiFi, GPS (!), and Windows Mobile, the Kaiser is as good as Widows Mobile gets. The HTC Kaiser is the likely successor to AT&T’s 8525 (HTC TyTn /Hermes), and rumored to be getting branded as the AT&T 8925. With T-mobile Germany already getting its hands on the Kaiser as the MDA Vario III, we gotta believe that it’s headed for Yankee shores soon. We have reason to believe that the iPhone carrier may release the AT&T 8925 sometime in August . As usual, we’ll keep grinding away at the rumor mill. Stay tuned for more info!
