Google’s Android team have announced the first round results of the first Android Developer Challenge. The ADC was set up to promote inovative apps on the new mobile platform and is open to both professionals and hobbyists alike. The first round is now complete and Google has awarded 50 successful developpers with $25,000 and a place in the second round. An almost full list of winners is up on the ADC blog , with some more fleshed-out descriptions available here . It’s an interesting selection, too. Highlights include Eco2Go - which suggests public transport optioons in your locale to reduce your carbon footprint, bar code scanning app Androidscan and innovative guitar tutor SplashPlay. Interestingly, four developers have asked that their super-secret projects not be announced at this stage, so either they are a bit embarrassed or they think there could be some ‘monetization’ in the offing.
