  • Hands-on with the Nokia N95 8GB for North America!

Filed under: Handsets , Features , Nokia , Symbian , GSM , EDGE , HSDPA , UMTS All signs pointed to this sucker existing , and sure enough, here it is. The N95 8GB for North America is pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to be -- an exact replica of the European version with the 2100MHz WCDMA radio surgically removed and replaced with an 850 / 1900MHz counterpart for speedy data in these lands. The screen is up to 2.8 inches versus the original N95's 2.6, but the 8GB of internal storage comes at the cost of the microSD slot, so don't get all cocky on us about rocking 16GB of storage in your pocket, alright? Check it in stores this quarter for $749. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • Sony Ericsson gets real with geometric Z555 flip

Filed under: Handsets , Sony Ericsson , GSM , EDGE Sony Ericsson appears to have taken a page clear out of Nokia's book with the Z555, a fashionable flip (subject to personal opinions, of course) that looks like a hinged homage to Espoo's Prism series. The innards aren't much to talk about -- the GSM comes in one of two triband flavors depending on your region, and there's nary a hint of 3G to be found -- but the draw here is something Sony Ericsson's calling Gesutre Control, which allows you to control a handful of phone functions (ringtone mute and alarm snooze are specifically called out) by waving your hand in close proximity to the handset. You also get a hidden external OLED display, 1.3 megapixel cam, stereo Bluetooth, and pretty much all the colorful rectangles you can handle. Look for both regional versions of the phone to launch by the end of this quarter. %Gallery-12798% Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
