  • Grab your Alltel BlackBerry 8130 Pearl now

Alltel’s finally joining the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl - party with today’s announcement that the BlackBerry Pearl 2 is now available to all Alltel subscribers. If you’re not familiar with the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl by now, well, you should have been paying attention - there’s going to be a quiz at the end of all this. Anyway, this SureType successor to the original BlackBerry Pearl will be bringing that 2 megapixel camera and integrated GPS receiver to Alltel’s “Largest Network.” There’s also that regular 3.5mm headphone jack, microSDHC card slot, all packed into the Alltel-only Amethyst (we call it “Blue”) colored body. A 2-year contract and a rebate will net you an Alltel-flavored BlackBerry 8130 Pearl for about $150. • Alltel picks up the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl with GPS

It looks like Alltel’s keeping up with its larger wireless rivals. The recently launched CDMA BlackBerry 8130 Pearl with that glorious integrated GPS receiver will be making its way to Alltel’s network sporting an “amethyst” color scheme. Expect the Alltel BlackBerry 8130 Pearl to pack in all the same hardware as its Sprint and Verizon kin - which is to say that it’ll rock GPS, EVDO, 2 megapixel camera, microSDHC card slot, and that SureType keyboard. Alltel says they’ll be launching their BlackBerry 8130 Pearl in time for the holiday shopping season (which is quite literally upon us), so look for this new Pearl to drop fairly soon. Oh, and it’ll cost you $150 after a $100 rebate (2-year contract required, of course). • Sprint's BlackBerry 8130 Pearl for $199

We’ve finally gotten official pricing details on Sprint’s upcoming BlackBerry 8130 Pearl. We’ve known about the Sprint BlackBerry 8130 Pearl for quite some time now , but the only details missing from our puzzle was just how much cheese Sprint’s GPS-packing Pearl would demand. Well, it looks like Sprint’s promotional page (the same one that dropped the ball and started all that Palm OS-powered Motorola Q2 madness ) has unveiled the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 at a $199 price point. Of course, this price includes a $100 rebate and requires a 2-year contract and data plan worth $25 or more per month. The Sprint BlackBerry 8130 Pearl’s price point is pretty much what we expected, but it’s nice to finally put a solid sticker-price on the the new Pearl. Look for this beauty to drop over the Thanksgiving Day weekend . • Telus brings the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 to Canda

It looks like our friends to the North are getting in on the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 party. Telus has just made the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 (we know it better as the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 ) official for maple-syrup lovers in Canada. The GPS-packin’ BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 is expected to hit the Telus network at $199.99 with a 3-year contract (we’re assuming that’s Canadian dollars, not like it matters now that the Looney is on par with the USD), or $499.99 free and clear. If you’re willing to sign away three years of your wireless life, $199.99 doesn’t sound too bad for a GPS Pearl. On the other hand, it’s going to be an obsolete handset in a year or so - that three-year commitment is pretty hardcore. • Verizon announces new cheap unlimited data plans for BlackBerry 8130 Pearl 2.0

Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of their BlackBerry Pearl 8130 by slashing prices on their data plans. Pearl 2.0 hopefuls on Verizon’s EVDO network can expect to get their fill of email and web surfing for just $29.99 when bundled with a voice plan - $34.99 as a stand alone, unlimited data plan. It’s nowhere near T-Mobile’s $10 a month unlimited BlackBerry email plan (or their $20 unlimited web and email plan ), but if 3G web surfing and unrivaled coverage area are your thing, Verizon Wireless is your best bet. Oh, and you’ll have to settle for integrated GPS navigation and an improved web browser - we’re sure you’ll manage. For just $200, you get dibs on the Verizon BlackBerry Pearl 8130 when it ships out on November 8. We were expecting Verizon to drop the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 on us today, but a pre-order announcement is good enough. • AT&T launches the GPS-enabled BlackBerry 8130 Curve

Well, it’s a week late by our rumor-watch , but AT&T has launched their GPS-equipped BlackBerry 8130 Curve to pull enterprise- and consumer-duty on the national carrier’s EDGE network. Unlike AT&T’s previously released GPS-equipped BlackBerry 8800 and BlackBerry 8820 with both WiFi and GPS, the BlackBerry 8130 Curve brings GPS functionality to the masses in a lower-cost phone. Complementing the GPS receiver that it has in tow, the BlackBerry 8130 Curve packs in a 2 megapixel camera, media player, microSD card slot, and Bluetooth 2.0 (A2DP). And, paired with the TeleNav navigation service from AT&T, the BlackBerry 8130 Curve gives you turn-by-turn directions to your destination. Now, we said that AT&T is bringing this BlackBerry Curve to the masses as a lower -cost phone, not a low -cost phone. So, it’s still going to cost you a pretty penny - $199.99 (after 2 year contract and rebates) to be exact. But, if the prospect of getting your GPS fix (excuse the pun) for a relatively cheap price tickles your fancy, head on over to AT&T and pick from your choice of Red or Titanium Silver. • Sprint announces BlackBerry 8130 Pearl 2 for release next month

As we expected , Sprint has announced their intent to launch the RIM BlackBerry 8130 Pearl 2 next month. Following on Verizon Wireless’s holiday lineup announcement, the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl 2 will be bringing a built-in GPS, that cool trackball pearl, SureType keyboard (not our cup of tea, but some people like it) and 2 megapixel camera to Sprint’s CDMA network in time for the holiday shopping season.Sprint will be packing their BlackBerry Pearl 2 with its suite of Sprint PowerVision mobile services - Sprint TV, Sprint Music Store, Sprint Navigation, and OnDemand. With EVDO broadband speeds, we should be seeing some good stuff from Sprint’s BlackBerry 8130 Pearl 2. The launch window still looks good for the Thanksgiving Day weekend, but we’ll just have to wait and see how that pans out. Pricing will be announced at launch. • RIM announces CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130 - the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 with GPS

Research In Motion (RIM), makers of the venerable BlackBerry lineup of smartphones, has finally announced their anticipated BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 as the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130. The update to the Pearl lineup is the first BlackBerry Pearl for email addicts on a CDMA network (Verizon/Sprint). We’re expecting the BlackBerry 8130 to bring some updated software to the CDMA-table. The new OS will feature a new Browser (with a “ Page View” option that displays the entire website and a magnifying glass that let’s you zoom in on different sections) , new font-rendering (making smaller fonts easier to read), and a revamped Inbox application. But it doesn’t end there. As expected , the BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 (8130) will rock integrated GPS and navigation with BlackBerry maps. And, the SureType keyboard, stereo Bluetooth, microSD slot, and 3.5mm headphone jack will be complemented with a new, 2 megapixel camera. Look for CDMA carriers to pick up this new BlackBerry Pearl 8130 next month - which bodes well for our leaked information that Sprint will be launching this BlackBerry Pearl 2.0 over the Thanksgiving Day Weekend . Pricing is not yet available.
