  • HTC's S730 Vox-followup spotted in the wild?

Filed under: Handsets , HTC , Windows Mobile If these spy shots of the purported S730 are to be believed, then HTC looks to be drumming up a successor to their S710 Vox . Besides sporting an improved 400MHz Qualcomm processor and 3G radio, we're told that it features a like, totally, "way better keyboard," Bluetooth, and the "excellent build quality" we expect from an HTC device. We can also see a new front-facing camera and WiFi option in that picture above. With any luck, HTC will make it official at one of their rumored announcements coming today and tomorrow. Until then, hit the read link for plenty more pics. Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
  • My Clean Install of Vista Ultimate on a Lenovo x61 Tablet PC

On Friday night I decided to reinstall Vista Ultimate on my Lenovo x61 Tablet PC. I was just having too many issues from installing and uninstalling way too many trials, betas and demos. What I have done is tracked my progress and showing what I have installed and give you an idea of what I did during the install. It's kind of spread out over a couple of days - but I did keep the times on most things. I also had the Slingplayer running on the R2H during the whole thing watching a movie - Who knew Miami Vice was actually made into a movie.... Anyway's, back to the install. Also remember that I am starting from a MSDN Vista DVD, so this process is made a little easier since I don't have to do an install from the recovery media. Click the read more to see all the details!! Here is my install process and programs I installed: 11:20pm - Started Install 11:22pm - Copying files began - I don't put in the Product Key till I am ready after the install - that way, it doesn't automatically register. I only do this in case something doesn't work in the install. I get everything else going then register. 11:32pm - First reboot 11:38pm - Second reboot 11:40pm - Asking for my UN and PW information 11:42pm - Initial performance test - 1.0 - Graphic Driver issue 11:45pm - Sign in for the first time 11:46pm - Welcome Center 11:48pm - Auto Update is going - I change the settings to Notify me of available updates - then do the download. There are some of the things I don't want installed, cause I don't use them - ie - Dreamscene, just personal preference... 12:21am - Reboot after updates installed 12:38am - Installed Lenovo Auto Update utility 12:47am - Pick the installs I want and then start the download (I did install Active protection - that makes autorotation work - not shown in pictures) 1:05 am - Reboot after Lenovo updates 1:15 am - done for the night _________________________________ 8:21 am - Run Experience Index - 3.4 Index now from graphics drivers...
  • HTC leaks 2 of 2: the Juno

The second of today’s HTC leaks is the long-rumoured, US-bound ‘Juno’, snapped here (by Phone Daily) in another of its guises, the Dopod C750. Coming first to AT&T but to follow on T-Mobile as the ‘Shadow’ (ooh!), the Juno features a slide-out BlackBerry-style ‘SureType‘ keypad (combining QWERTY and numeric keys), and a 2.6″ VGA (480 [...]

  • Video: The message Apple delivers is not the one it chooses to follow

Text to blurry? This is a list of all the 3rd party Apple iPhone applications, the applications that used to work, the applications that people who loved the iPhone and realized how powerful it was to have a computer in your pocket created in their spare time. This is a list of everyone who Apple basically shunned. I have to quote Russell Beeattie on this: “And if you’re a hacker wasting your time unlocking closed Apple devices? Get a clue and use your effort in a community that appreciates your work, rather than one that can’t wait to hammer it on the next firmware update.” ---Related Articles at IntoMobile:43% of Apple stores have the iPhones againGrab you $100 Apple Store credit now - iPhone early adopters' redemption is hereFound another great site, phone scoop, check out these video reviewsS60 Annoyance: Tell me when the message was sent, not when you received itApple busts out new iPhone keyboard video!

  • Nokia ups Mail for Exchange to version 2

Filed under: Software , Nokia , Symbian Symbian and Windows Mobile might be sworn enemies, but to play ball in the corporate space, Nokia has little option but to support the 800-pound email gorilla that is Exchange. To that end, Espoo has loosed version 2 of its Mail for Exchange client, tightening integration with Microsoft's Exchange Server 2007 (while still supporting 2003) and enabling full attachment handling and meeting management directly from Nokia's Eseries devices. Who'da thunk they'd be rocking ActiveSync from their E62? Get it now, free of charge, for the entire Eseries line along with the N73, N76, and N95. • UK Should Allocate Mobile TV Spectrum Now—Nokia

Nokia's ( NYSE: NOK ) VP of multimedia, Mark Selby, has said he is "very worried" about Britain's "ludicrous" lack of commitment to mobile TV reports RapidTV news. He said that going with the L-Band option would increase the cost of building the network, and that "UHF in the shape of Channel 36 is available almost now, or will be wholly vacated in early 2009. We know it will take about three years to build out a network to deliver services to 93 percent of the population". The message being that regulator Ofcom should allocate the spectrum now so that the winners can get started building the network, rather than awarding it in 2009. He brings up the spectre of a 2012 Olympic games, where people in Paris, Vietnam and Nigeria would be able to watch it via mobile TV, but not people in Manchester. He reckons this will harm the UK's position in terms of content, creativity, applications and interactivity, although those who think mobile TV will flop probably aren't that concerned.

  • SMS Alert Used In NY College Following Gunman Arrest

Students at John's University in New York were warned about a man walking onto the campus with a loaded rifle 16 minutes after he had done so, causing the number of people enrolled in the alert program to more than triple from 2100 to 6,500, out of 20,000 students. The PC Magazine article treats it fairly, although it quotes New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as saying: "In the wake of the unspeakable tragedy at Virginia Tech, we have a vivid reminder of why a system like this is vitally important...Without the university's effective planning and its community's cooperation, this situation could have concluded quite differently." The first alert was sent after the gunman was apprehended, so it's unlikely the outcome would have been very different. However, it does demonstrate the usefulness of SMS as a mass communication tool, and the main benefit would have been to keep people informed and prevent rumors running riot in the campus.
