O2 set to sell BBC mobile content through O2 Active mobile portal

O2 sings deal with BBC Worldwide to sell and distribute mobile video content through O2 Active mobile portalEverybody wants a piece of the burgeoning mobile video market, and O2 is the newest wireless carrier to jump on the bandwagon. The German, UK, and Irish wireless carrier recently inked a deal with BBC Worldwide to distribute its mobile content through the O2 Active mobile portal. The deal will allow O2 to sell the BBC content in the form of ringtones, wallpapers, and video clips- with an initial offering that includes The Office, Little Britain, Doctor Who, I’m Alan Partridge, and League of Gentlemen.

Broadcaster-Carrier partnerships seem to be the best way to bring mobile phone users the video content that they want. Afterall, it’s the mainstream TV/video-content that most appeals to most users - aside from YouTube that is.
